Holliday resigns as Florida safeties coach

GAINESVILLE - Florida associate head coach Doc Holliday won't be the head coach at West Virginia, but he will be joining the staff afterall.

Holliday resigned his position with the Gators on Thursday and is expected to join the coaching staff at West Virginia. Holliday previous applied for the school's vacant head coaching position two weeks ago.

A Hurricane, W. Va. native, Holliday coached at West Virginia from 1979-99. Under Urban Meyer, Holliday was in charge of Florida's safeties and was the primary recuriter for the South Florida area.

Meyer, who managed to maintain continuity on his staff for the first two seasons, now has two vacant positions to fill. Running backs coach Stan Drayton left earlier this week to take over the same position at Tennessee.
