Lucas says injured knee won't hamper him
Freshman guard Jai Lucas said he's still recovering from the knee injury he sustained in last weekend's Kentucky game, but he's able to play through it.
Lucas hyper-extended his knee during a collision driving to the basket in that game. He said it's much better today than it was earlier in the week.
"It's doing better,'' he said. "It’s on the side of my knee. It’s like a combination of a sprain and a bruise. The first day it was pretty bad. It was really tight. I had to sleep on one side and it was painful. It’s a lot better now. I can move better and it’s just a lot better.''
Lucas played in Wednesday night's win over South Carolina, despite missing some practice, and is expected to be in the starting lineup when the Gators host Vanderbilt on Sunday afternoon.
"Once I get running and loosen it up, it (pain) goes away.'' Lucas said. "I don’t really feel it.''
