Meyer: Tebow wins top college ESPY
TAMPA -- Florida coach Urban Meyer is speaking with reporters as part of the Florida Sports Writers Association's College Football Media Days, and he's let out a spoiler as part of his opening comments: Tim Tebow was honored with an ESPY Award as the top college athlete Wednesday night.
The ESPYs won't air until Sunday night, but Meyer, who attended the taping in Los Angeles Wednesday and took an overnight flight home to Florida, said that Tebow earned the college honor. Meyer said he detests individual honors and hopes his Gators can earn a team honor at next year's ESPYs.

All these awards and recognitions and the season hasn't begun. I can't imagine how dominant the Gators will be in 2008.

You can't imagine how good the Gators will be in 2008. Hmmm, let's see. The Gators had the best offense in the SEC last yr (statistically). They only lost two players off their entire starting offense, Drew Miller (center) and Andre Caldwell (WR). They have two heisman trophy candidates coming back (Tebow and Harvin). The only question mark on the team is theie secondary. However, the majority of UF's defense were freshman last yr. Considering the talent level and the one yr under their belt, they should be much improved. It's all speculation until they step on the field, but the Gators are definitely one of the top two teams in the SEC this yr. Georgia will be good again, but we all know their recent history with the Gators. Since 1990, they've only beaten the Gators three times (97, 04 and last yr).

These awards are to recognize athletes for last year's results.

Imagine how great Tebow will be this yr. Last year was his first year as a starter...You will see more of a complete passer this year.
