Founder of new website on Florida quarterback Tim Tebow talks about the reason behind it

Got a chance to catch up with Dan Shanoff of Sporting News after so many people weighed in on the issue of whether Florida quarterback Tim Tebow is being overexposed.

Shanoff, who has launched the website timteblog.com, has an interesting take on Tebow and his role with the Gators for this upcoming season that is so filled with national expectations.

He likens Tebow's story this season to that of Michael Phelps as he was heading into the Olympics last summer, or the World Cup in 2006 or Barry Bonds' quest for 73 home runs. All were stories that were essentially covered the way reporters cover a "beat.''

"Tebow is the single-biggest sports story of the fall,'' Shanoff said. "Not only is he trying to lead his team to a back-to-back national championship (for which they are favored to win), but he is the leading contender for the Heisman. The combination of team accomplishment and individual accolades - plus the general mythology that has been created around him - will put him squarely in the debate over whether he is the best college football player of all time. For me, that affirmatively qualifies the Tebow story as worthy of my focused journalistic coverage.''

It seems the majority of you agree.
