Fallout continues from Florida-Georgia game

While Florida coach Urban Meyer is taking a lot of criticism nationally for his decision to suspend  LB Brandon Spikes for just one half of the upcoming game against Vanderbilt, some Florida fans are taking it upon themselves to provide documentation of other unsportsmanlike plays in the game that haven't generated the kind of attention Spikes' "eye-gouging" tape has.

Along with the three personal fouls Georgia was called for in the game last week against Florida, fans are pointing out there were others that could have been called, but weren't.

The Gators are preparing to move on, but the controversy continues.

Here's a YouTube clip that was sent to me this morning, a hit by Georgia's Nick Williams on an unsuspecting QB Tim Tebow.

Exactly - if you seek, ye shall find plenty of dirty plays committed by the Gators' opponents.

Doesn't excuse eye-gouging (if that really did happen), but let's have a little parity. The Gators haven't exactly cornered the market on unsportsmanlike conduct and bad ref calls.

And the other teams and their supporters need to stop piling on the Gators - they're doing it just because they're jealous of the Gators' success.

tainted season

This a joke gator fans....You beat Arkansas on bogus calls. Missing Spikes for one half versus a poor SEC Team is a joke. Go find all the calls you want to justify it, but it does not take away from the fact that you benefited from two calls against Arkansas in a game that you SHOULD have lost. The TD against Miss State should have not counted, but do think you would have won regardless....but Arkansas..no way. Everybody watching knows who really won that game..Shall we say tainted season.....

Jesse

This Gator season will be remember for all the extra help they got from officials. Even if they do go undefeated this one will have a big footnote to it. 4 games with Tebow and then the gators suck again.

Julie

The sad part is the gators fans are so pathetic they actually are trying to support a guy that admits he did just what the video shows. The fans are so stupid as to say you can see if he did it, he told his coach he did. Wake up you bunch of gator heads.

LMAO

Late hits, personal fouls and otherwise dirty play is WAYYYYY different than trying to gouge someone's eye out.

What do you expect from a fan base clothed in Jhorts and sporting mullets???

billy

Come on that was a good hit. Tebow was not throwing the ball he handed the ball off then he becomes a regular player.

Sue

Gainesville is a hillbilly town full of country fools.

macanudo

If the Gators weren't No.1, none of the made up controversies the keyboard jockies keep coming with wouldn't hold. Florida only won the game because of the refs? Have you watched an entire replay of the game? There are numerous non-calls against the Gators, but for some reason are never talked about. The Miss. State game, the replay wasn't conclusive. And now this supposed outrage over the Spikes incident is rediculous. What's it going to be next week, Tebow is on steroids. Or Meyer cheats on his taxes. Flame on.

Jill

Macanudo,
I noticed you didn't bring up the calls in the Arkansas game that got the refs suspended. Even the SEC that watched the game over said it was horrible calls and changed the outcome of the game. Gators are a joke.

Just Stop

Seriously. All of you bashing UF for this have to just stop and look into a mirror. All of you have done something in your life that that's been bad. If UF wasn't #1 in the country, none, and I repeat, NONE of this would be blowing up to the level it is. The RB, Ealey, from UGA even said that Spikes should NOT be suspended at all. There is also nothing on that youtube clip that proves anything, so to say he did gouge the kids eyes is a joke. Ealey hasn't said a word about it & he didn't even get up rubbing his eyes or anything. You people need to get off your high horse and move on with your lives. Spikes will play football again & UF will more likely than not win another National Title. You people will really should find some teams to cheer for instead of taking every little chance you get to rip on UF. Tainted Season? LOLOLOLOL.... whatever. Brandon James almost had his neck snapped in half on a face mask from a UGA player on UF's 1st drive. Tebow got laid out on a wayyyyy late hit from Nick Williams , and there were other personal fouls against UGA that actually were called. It's a game ( UF/UGA ) that has always had plays like this. It's just not until nowadays, the days of DVR & youtube, that you are getting to see just how dirty this game is, from both teams. UGA still leads the nation in personal fouls, a standard under Mark Richt that he's proud of since his days at FSU, so what's all the fuss about? Heck, UGA's Ealey doesn't even have any complaints about what happened with him & Spikes. I dare you to find one comment by Ealey saying anything bad about what happened. Maybe nothing happened at all.....

@ Billy above. If you think that after the play is over that it's okay to blindside a QB, then you are a messed up person. That was clearly a late hit & that Williams guy for UGA was trying to take Tebow out, like career ending kind of out.

Gators are number 1 stupid idiots and deserve it ,get over Brandon Spikes eye gouging call. And Sue I'm a country hillbilly from the backwoods not a fool.LONG LIVE COWBOYS GETE-R-DONE

Go UF Necks!

eye gouging is another UF CRIME ! ! lol

I am so sick of hearing about the 2 calls in the Arkansas game. Both calls were on 1st down. It's not like it was 4th down and the penalty kept the drive alive. There is no way to say they wouldn't have scored anyway. Arkansas was so obsessed with the refs they forgot to play football the next weekend.

mike

How did all of these Semi-hole fans get on this blog? Don't worry, we will be coming your way for the annual beat down soon. Be sure to have the geriatric joke with you.

Gatorfan!

mike:

Think about it! Would you want to be on the Seminole blog even if you an FSU fan????

How depressing!! You have a coach who most fans want to see leave, but he won't. The program is being destroyed right now. Have you seen all the recruits that are leaving en mass because of current situation. The recruiting debacle is going to put this program 2-3 more years further behind.

Of course you would want to be over here on a Gator blog where our football future is bright and has surpassed anything that the coach who is there NOW ever did!!!!

Let's face it...no matter how they spin it....USF is more relevant now....how embarrasing must THAT be?????

Jesse-Do you have anything else to say besides bragging about you undefeated season 10 years ago with Dillards thief or how UF are just felons? How about something relating to playing the Gators on the field? FSU is the worst four loss team i've ever seen...Congratulations for going "wire to wire" with your MVP Dillards thief, Peter Warrick. Two tainted titles. You'll never get three. When was the last time FSU finished in the top 10, Jesse? I own you, just like the Gators own the Noles.
