Florida CB Joe Haden a Jim Thorpe semifinalist

JOEHADEN Florida junior CB Joe Haden is one of 12 semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe Award given annually to the nation’s best college defensive back. Alabama's Javier Arenas, a former Tampa Robinson standout, is also among the semifinalists.

This list will be narrowed to three finalists on Nov. 23, and the winner will be announced during the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show on Dec. 10.


The 2009 semifinalists are: Javier Arenas, Alabama; Eric Berry, Tennessee; Barry Church, Toledo; Perrish Cox,Oklahoma State; Joe Haden, Florida; Brandon Harris, Miami; Taylor Mays, USC; Tyler Sash, Iowa; Darrell Stuckey, Kansas; Earl Thomas, Texas; Alterraun Verner, UCLA; Kyle Wilson, Boise State
