Urban Meyer, Gators say there's no dissension among players

Spikesaction Florida coach Urban Meyer said Sunday that reports there's dissension among the Gator players is untrue, and Florida has no inner turmoil on the team.

Meyer also denied reports of an altercation between Florida QB Tim Tebow and LB Brandon Spikes following the win over Mississippi State, and said there was no "finger pointing" speech to the team after the game.

"First of all there's no finger pointing speech and there's no altercation,'' Meyer said. I'm not sure where you are gathering your information. There is no finger pointing speech whatsoever. There was a very positive speech about staying focused on facing a great team with great talent and there's no finger pointing speech. After the Mississippi State game there was a very passionate locker room about how we can play better but there was no altercation whatsoever.''

Spikes said after Saturday's 41-17 win over Georgia that the team's senior leaders met with the team last week to take control and get everyone back on the same page.

"I think we're a good strong team of guys, full of seniors,'' he said. "We kind of know what
it takes. Me, Tebow, we get on guys and hold them accountable, let them know  what's your value to the team. Things weren't getting done the way we expect and we had a team meeting and maybe stepped on a few toes, but in the end it just kind of brought us all together.''

The Gators, who remained No. 1 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, will host Vanderbilt Saturday night.

Tom

"maybe stepped on a few toes" , did they try and poke out any eyes or just save that for the Georgia game????

dsbnoles

Theres no excuse for this. And to those that say its part of football, try being the one that has your eye's gouged.

dsbnoles, You people, of ALL, have NO ROOM TO TALK. Darnell Dockett intentionally injured Earnest Graham in 2001. Florida State was known for its dirty play. You're just obsessed with UF now and your team can't beat the Gators.

Your post is laughable. And no, I'm not defending Brandon Spikes, it's a disgrace, but yeah, it does go on everywhere. Football is a violent game, dirty play is over the line.

wot90s

did you ask Tebow who poked his eyes so bad he couldn't see???

archangeladidas

To bad games are not decided on message boards and blogs. GO GATORS!!!

Gator Paul

Success breeds contempt and jealousy by one's enemies.

Gators, keep on doing what you're doing, and pay no attention to the ankle biters.

LMA0

HA all you gator fans who thought it was no big deal, your coach just sat him down, far from what needed to be done. none the less he was in the wrong, nice captain.

dsbnoles

GatorSphere,

When you say im not defending Spikes, BUT.... that is defending his actions. Dockett was a thug which is why he got knocked out by a FSU player so no need to bring up a player 8 years ago. I was talking about the UF Captain that was playing on saturday.
