Suit: 'Judge Judy' chief said no black litigants

We haven’t been keeping up on our Judge Judy lately, but the show’s former senior producer, Jonathan Sebastien, is suing the show’s executive producer for whitewashing the show.

Sebastian alleges in a lawsuit that Randy Douthit told his staff, “We’re not doing any more black shows,” and “I don’t want to hear black people arguing,” TMZ reports. Douthit allegedly told Sebastien and other producers to book “white upscale, pretty people” and send black litigants to Judge Joe Brown, which is produced by the same company.

Sebastien insists he was fired March 30 after complaining about the new policy, although a Judge Judy staffer tells TMZ that the ex-producer is disgruntled and filing the suit because he “was fired for cause.” Sounds like someone needs one of Judge Judy Sheindlin's signature lectures.

Count down the year with James Earl Jones

Well, okay, it's actually counting up, but hey, it's not like you're watching it today, anyway.

Williams on Letterman, Huckabee on Leno

Late-night talk shows are back Wednesday, but without writers to formulate most of the jokes, what do we have to look forward to? Well, there’s always the interviews. Robin Williams will be featured on David Letterman, while Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee will pay a visit to Jay Leno, the AP reports. Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O’Brien are also back on the air, but they haven’t said much. They no doubt are scouring the list of ticketholders to see if there’s anyone in the audience worth interviewing.

Mindy McCready released from Tennessee jail

Tbdmindymccready010208 Country singer Mindy McCready, who was arrested in July in Fort Myers for fighting with her mother and resisting arrest, therby violating her probation from a 2004 drug arrest, is free again.

The 32-year-old was released Sunday morning from the Williamson County (Tenn.) jail, but must serve an additional two years’ probation, the AP reports.

Her attorney, Lee Ofman, said McCready has learned her lesson and will stay out of trouble. It’s also likely she’ll stay off the music charts for awhile, too.

Lindsay Lohan is back to playing the field

Tbdlindsaylohan010208 This is more like it: Lindsay Lohan was spotted smooching several young men while on the Italian island of Capri for a film festival over the weekend, the U.K.’s Sun reports.

Paparazzi snapped LiLo planting a few on waiter (yes, waiter) Alessandro Di Nunzio before moving on to actor Eduardo Costa. Later on she was seen in a liplock with another actor, Dario Faiella, who is the son of Italian musician Peppino Di Capri.

“She wasn’t content to share a snog with just one fella — it seemed like she wanted them all,” a source blurted to the newspaper. “She certainly set tongues wagging.” Add your own kissing joke here.

David Faustino is officially divorced

Tbdfaustino010208 Former Married ... with Children “star” David Faustino has had his divorce from wife Andrea Elmer finalized in L.A., the AP reports. Faustino filed in February, citing irreconcilable differences, but was most recently in the news for getting arrested in New Smyrna Beach in May for shouting and slurring at Andrea in the middle of an intersection. Cops found some weed in his pocket, earning him a trip to Volusia County Jail. But no worries; David and Andrea have agreed on spousal support, division of property and attorney fees. Happy New Year, young couples everywhere!

Jennifer Garner rules all of West Virginia

Tbdjennifergarner010208 Jennifer Garner may not have ever won an Emmy for her run on Alias, but she should be happy to hear her hometown newspaper in Charleston, W. Va., has bestowed upon her the honor of 2007 West Virginian of the Year.

The Sunday Gazette-Mail chose the actress for being an ambassador and role model for the state, even though she’s originally from Texas (she moved to West Virginia when she was 4). Apparently finding steady work and marrying the father of your baby is grounds for high praise in Charleston. Rim shot!

No, seriously, she’s in Cyrano de Bergerac on Broadway, is currently in theaters with Juno and has two more flicks on the way. That tops last year’s winner — David Hardesty, who only served as president of West Virginia University for 12 years before retiring in August — by a mile, doesn’t it?

Brandy won't face criminal charges in crash

Singer Brandy can breath a little easier these days, now that the L.A. city attorney's office decided Friday not to press charges in the December 2006 car crash that killed 38-year-old Awatef Aboudihaj.

The AP said the office found insufficient evidence to bring the case in front of a jury. The California Highway Patrol had previously recommended that she be charged, a claim attorney Blair Berk called out in a statement to the media:

"These past 12 months have posed an extraordinary hardship for Brandy and her family, who have been unfairly forced to live under a cloud of suspicion initially caused by the ill-advised and premature press release sent out by the California Highway Patrol accusing Brandy of wrongdoing before the police investigation was even finished."

But she won't have time to worry about the CHP: she's currently waiting on $50 million in separate lawsuits filed by Aboudihaj's parents, children and husband. Brandy and Mallory Ham, a motorist whose car struck boudihaj's, also have sued each other for negligence. Aboudihaj's husband also has sued Ham. All the lawsuits are pending.

Mischa Barton ditches gig, can't escape Vegas

Despite Mischa Barton's insistence that she would host the grand opening party for the CatHouse nightclub in the Las Vegas strip's Luxor over the weekend, Barton decided that may not have been the best idea and pulled the plug, E! Online reports.

Well, officially it was the lounge that said she was no longer wanted. "Because of the media attention currently surrounding Mischa Barton, CatHouse has decided it is best for all parties involved that Mischa does not appear at tonight's grand opening," a statement from CatHouse read Saturday.

But that doesnt mean she's off the hook. "Mischa did not show up last night as expected," a rep for the club said. "She still has to honor her contract, and what happens next remains to be seen." So a DUI means she only can postpone her next drunkfest.
