Tampa Tony gets life in prison for drugs
Bradenton's Antonio Alls, a.k.a. rapper Tampa Tony, has been sentenced to life in prison for drug possession, TampaBays10.com reports. You may remember Tampa Tony as the inventor of Da Splitter, a device that splits blunts open for easy nickel insertion.
The 33-year-old rapper was sentenced Wednesday by a federal judge for his conviction on charges of possession and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.
Alls was busted in Pasco County on October 2006 with not 5 but 24 kilos of coke. He was convicted last November.

Thats what he deserves. He had kids to take care of there was no resaon for him to sell drugs. He should of got a real job like everybody else. With him selling drugs to people he destored many families. Thats what drugs do. Maybe now the kids can find some one that will take car of them instead of a drug dealer.

I hate to say it, but he knew what he was getting himself into. I don't agree with the sentencing laws, however he knew what he was up against.
I am sad that he has to spend life in jail though.... a life sentence is a long time... especially at 33. I mean they could have given him 20 years. Even 20 years is a very harsh sentence.. its basically all we have, is life. The only thing we have is our lives... and for a judge to take it away is despicable.

Mama, too late to help your son, but maybe he can help save some others. The people that are typing on this comment section, can try and be better people, and stop slinging drugs, that would be a start.

When i raised tony I did not teach him to get into drugs at all. Yes I am very sad that I Have lost my only son to such thing as drugs.Ijust don,t under stand How so many people say that they love tony so much can just sit back and watch how his family struggle with life. with tony gone.

24 kilos? Sounds like tony was quite the entrepeneur. No wonder he had so much energy to develop "da splitter"
I wish he and many others of his ilk would stay in prison for life.
Posted by: Reality | February 22, 2009 at 07:37 PM
These drug companies can kill us legally and get to force it upon us through the system and the government! Tampa Tony was a good person, this is wrong.
Posted by: | February 22, 2009 at 12:52 PM
Tony was a greathuman being and anyone who knew him can t estify to that.... people have legally sold drugs way worse than cocaine....but yeah...of course some of these comments are racist as hell.....like white people never sold drugs....gimma break tampa rednecks!

Oh how I see myself in some of these comments. I once had no use whatsoever for anyone that uses drugs--then I suddenly find that a really wonderful young man has become addicted and in deep trouble. We feel so smug and above this life until it hits one of our loved ones. The truth is good people can at a weak moment be talked into trying this and become hooked. Life in prison for this no. This is a problem that can be treated. The problem is we can't see this until it becomes our loved one, our problem. No, I don't know the person in this article, I am just stating what I now know about drugs after years of having no desire to learn because it wasn't my problem.

Dude got popped with 24 keys of coke....I'd say he deserves life in prison.
Hopefully, he did not reproduce. Obviously his DNA does not contain ANY desirable qualities. Gotta love how "rappers" supplement their income by dealing.
Freakonomics was right about Tampa Tony and his ilk. It's a shame that black children have very few positive role models.

Wow Tony got life? I don't know whether I should be sad or angry. I hope he keeps his head up and god will do the rest.

Maybe it is just me, but I would much rather work for free than have my privates cut off.
Posted by: Banglijk | October 03, 2008 at 01:05 PM
I dont feel sorry for anybody who Gets Caught. Simple as that. If you get caught deal with it. But all this emotion how unjust the system is. Is this any more unjust then when a black man would get hung or have our privates cut off or even worse made to work for free. Least TT got some money only thing it didnt last. No sympathy except for his momma and children because they are the loser of this situation Not T he knew what game hie was in and knew the consequences. Get real People.

This should send a message to all the educated and uneducated people out there, you deal drugs you lose your life.
Tony was one of the most ignorant, a "career criminal" dealer having been arrested many times and thinking he was special or above the law, maybe now he knows... maybe not. Having Tony off the streets for good means one less fool polluting young kids minds with his drugs and his crime.

Life in prison? Really? Unbelievable. I am a young professional educated white man and am blown away by this. A few years, okay. Life? Give me a break!

It's really sad to see another black men with potential locked up. But lets be serious does it really take the rest of his life to learn his lesson. THANKS AMERICA, another child growing up without a father. In the United States it does appear as if everything possible is done to humble the Negro, to suppress his self-respect. Prison is not the answer to everything. Brian Gene Nichols is going to get out before he does.
Posted by: Myke Jones | July 23, 2008 at 10:51 PM
OK, first who is this guy? Seems like another wannabe gangsta nobody. Second, who was he selling the drugs to? Stop sticking up for people selling drugs to you kids. That is the only way things are going to get better. It's not white or black it's people like this pushing this junk on the street.

Well all the praying hasn't had much success, so how about this, lets start whacking these drug dealers that are promoting drug addition and placing a huge burden on our society, I pray you join me in this new endeavor, peace out!

We need to stop all of this violence and nonsense and pray for ourselves and eachother. We are the US, We are a team, and We are all brother and sisters. Drugs are bad, but there are more things out there that are more serious than drugs.

here is a good idea, if you think the legal system is unfair, do the smart thing! Don't commit a crime in the first place! He broke the law, enough said

Yet rapists and murderers get out after a few years, sometimes even less....nice.

Joe G., how about spell checking yourself before calling others idiots?
Not sure his background - has he been CONVICTED before, etc. - but in any case a non-violent offense that receives life is ridiculous. How much money will it cost taxpayers to house this man? How many others are walking free who committed violent crimes with full knowledge and foresight?
Even disregarding the race issue - and any one who bothers to do some research can see the inequality in not just those in the system, but the laws as they have been and are written - how much sense does it make to go after non-violent men and women?
The "War on Drugs" is a lost cause. It is a waste of money. It used to win the votes of those who cannot see beyond the Great Oz's curtain. Or refuse to. This is a waste - all the while men and women and children are left to deal with health issues, addition and otherwise, on their own. Men and women who are telling these people like Tampa Tony what to do are still calling the shots. Men and women who prey on children are walking free and unnoticed as there is not an effective system in place nor enough staff to implement a system to track them as needed and dictated. In the meantime, this does not make one dent in the drug industry. NOT ONE DENT.
Do what works: this fails.

The reality of this situation is he has life in prison. Maybe its for the good or maybe another black male was handed down improper justice. No one can judge and nobody knows why he had to turn to that type of life style. When it's all said and done the only person that can forgive and judge him is God.

I would like to know how in the world can you get LIFE in prison for selling drugs when there a lot more severe type crimes that are committed in Florida. Some people that kill get off less than this. This is really crazy what is this world coming to. Black Americans you all better wake up and smell the coffee. Because you know they will try to keep us down in way they can. Child Molester may stat in prison for at least 3 or 4 years sometimes but, a person who is selling drugs gets life.....That's crazy. I know that selling drugs is a crime but I don't think the punishment should be that severe. A group of Correctional Officer kill a little boy in Boot Camp and every last one of the get off, with no type of punishment whatsoever. What is Florida coming to and what is wrong with this picture.......The justice system is not equal at all. They need to revised the justice system and make it equal. Some of the crimes that are committed does not fit the punishment that comes with it.

Great point that was made those regarding the incident that happened with the teacher. Her punishment was paid for she knew somebody that knew somebody. And instead us as a people standing up to protect the rights of our children some of us were preparing to go the bar, stunt a little bit instead of uniting together and protesting. You see one voice they would see it as a solo not a big deal however if we would've came to together to form a mass choir that would've been a hell of a song. Do you feel me? They don't care because we don't!! Enough about that, the Tampa Tony issue yeah true enough the sentence doesn't fit the crime for a first time offender. However, how many times was he locked up? How many chances did he get? This man had a promising career he has had that exposure. Who had the gun to his head forcing him to sell drugs? Sure you say we were not the ones who are supplying the drugs to our community, we don't own the boats or the planes. That may be true, so why should we risk our lives and freedom to do their dirty work? Tell them to sell their own damn drugs and check out the outcome of that. You wouldn't catch George W selling crack to Barb. So what makes the parents the mothers and fathers of our community less valuable? WAKE THE HELL UP MY PEOPLE. The blueprint to corrupt and destroy our villages powerless was in placed and enforced years before some of us were even conceived. It's time to break the cycle remove those invisible nooses from around our necks. And rebuild our villages because our futures are looking pretty grim. Have you taken a look around lately our children are lost some don't know anything about our Black History meanwhile others don't even know about Jesus and his life was sacrificed for our sins. Their stuck in the BET state of mind, and it's as fairy tale as the damn tooth fairy and easter bunny. That's not the real world how drug slanging is glamourized but the harsh reality is that after so many chance in and out of their system you could end up serving a life sentence or dead. When you could've simply walked away. God Bless, keep him first be proud of who you are, because if not why should someone else care? email me @demimechi075@yahoo.com
