Cher and Tom Cruise dated 25 years ago

The Juice* has previously said that Cher and Tom Cruise used to be an item. Seriously, everyone knew that, right? Well, to catch up on that web weirdness, the May 8 episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show will show the ageless wonder admitting she had a thing for the Cruise missile way back when.

Cher told a crowd of 4,000 during a Las Vegas taping that she used to date the actor, although comments released by Harpo Productions don't make it too clear when, the AP says.

"He was so wonderful. And I was so crazy about him," she said. "And he was so, like, different. He was a shy boy. He didn't have any money." Or an ego the size of Nebraska, we're guessing. There's a 16-year age difference there, too; Cher is now 61, Cruise is 45.

The time frame we're talking about here wasn't clear, but other interviews say it was somewhere between Risky Business in 1983 and The Color of Money in 1986, which pretty much sums up when he lost that "shy boy"-ness, doesn't it? And how long did it go on?

"Oh, that was a long date," Cher said. "Really. I lived in his apartment."

That must have been before the place was full of e-meters and mirrors so he could look at himself all the time. No really, Tom, you're great! (Please don't sue us ...)

I wonder if Tom Cruise dancing to that Old Time Rock and Roll did it for her. That drove a lot of women crazy during that time. Him playing the broom guitar in his tidy whities drove all the women crazy.

Cher is beautiful and he probably bragged to all his friends that he was with her. He gives all guys hope when dating a mature beautiful woman.
