Have the Chili Peppers 'disbanded?'

Kiedis

Noted sock-codpiece-wearer Anthony Kiedis dropped an alarming bit of news on Red Hot Chili Peppers fans during an interview with Rolling Stone: “We’ve disbanded for the moment.” Kiedis says the band is still coming off the “grueling” process of recording Stadium Arcadium and its ensuing tour. “We were all emotionally and mentally zapped at the end of that run,” he said. “Cooler heads prevailed and the discussion at the end of our last tour was, “Let’s not do anything Red Hot Chili Peppers-related for a minimum of one year, and just live and breathe and eat and learn new things.’” Kiedis -- shown above during what we can only assume must have been a Steve Nash lookalike contest -- says he is getting “just a little bit of a tingle” about making new music, so Chili Peppers fans can probably relax for the moment.

As a postscript, the Juice* would like to point out that we came across this story by reading Whitney Matheson’s indispensible Pop Candy blog, which is a good thing, because otherwise we never would have touched the actual current issue of Rolling Stone, considering it’s got the f---ing Eagles on the cover.

Eagles

Seriously, Jann Wenner? SERIOUSLY??!??

I absolutely loved the old Chili peppers. They were in your face, and made a unique blend of punk and funk. Now, all they make is radio music. You kinda have to wonder what they would be like if Hillel was still lead.

RHCP are greeeeeeaaaaat

Right on, bluebass! This the first time RS has had ANY viable talent on their cover for a long time. I stopped subscribing to RS years ago because of it. Maybe The Juice would rather they go back to putting the cast of "The Hills" or some other crap on the cover.

If they do make another album, I wonder if they can do it with out making one song related to California. After all I get it!

I saw these guys at Lollapalooza in L.A. back in 95. Pretty good, but Beck and Offspring were better.

Anthony...
"Chili Peppers STINK ON ICE!!!! washed up mush whiny music"???

I guess that's why their tours still sell out, @ $60- $100 a seat, heh?

My son plays in a band... you know the head-bangin' death metal type with a lead "singer" that croaks like the devil... is that the kind of "music" we should be listening to these days?

If you ask me, the garbage that is banged out in some of the local clubs, the stuff my son and his freinds play is the true meaning of the word CRAP.

Uh...the Eagles have more talent individually than most current bands have collectively...including the RHCP (I used to like both bands). Wenner is probably aware of that.

For me, anything after Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic seemed like they just carbon copied songs to be hits on top 40 stations. I love their older stuff, though I still give their new stuff a chance when it first comes out to see if they went back to some glimmer of their older style, but usually after 2 or 3 times of hearing a new song I get sick of it.

I second that. The RHCP have never been a favorite of mine, but they were in your face and made you take notice and listen. They don't do that anymore.
