Tatum O'Neal bought crack because dog died
Tatum O'Neal may have been arrested on charges of buying crack on Sunday, but she says the arrest was a godsend that kept her from lighting up, the New York Post reports.
"I'm still sober!" she told the paper. "Just when I was about to change that and wreck my life, the cops came and saved me! I was saved by the bell, by the guys in the Seventh Precinct."
But what led Tatum down this dark and lonely road (actually, down an alley off Clinton Street)? The death of her 16-year-old family pooch three weeks ago, she said.
"I lost my Scottish terrier, Lena. That seemed to set me off," she explained. "She got old. She got cancer. She was the fabric of our family. We had to let her go to heaven. My daughter and I had to put her down. It was too horrible for words."
While The Juice* loves family pets, we don't think we'd turn to smoking crack if our beloved El Gato Gordo kicked the bucket. And besides, what happened to that whole story that she was researching drug deals for a movie that doesn't exist? She must have been canned between Sunday and when boyfriend Ron Castellano posted bail for her.

The dog was the fabric of her family. This chick has a loose screw. Why did she just clone the damn dog?

She bought crack because she wanted to get high. Period. When something bad happens we addicts seem to have difficulty with the concept that...sometimes we can't make it better, but we can always make it worse.
