Lily Allen, Elton John battle at GQ awards show
American awards shows are so boring. There's always someone going off about how so-and-so is talented, or this-and-that is so great. We need more banter like Lily Allen and Elton John shared Tuesday night at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, when the 23-year-old singer was admonished by the beknighted oldster.
Slurring like a sailor on leave, Allen told the audience at London's Royal Opera House "now we reach a very special point in the evening," the Times of London reports, when Sir Elton retorted, "What, you're going to have another drink?" Oh no he di'n't!
Ever the lady, Lily responded with, "F--- off, Elton, I'm 40 years younger than you; I have my whole life ahead of me." But the 61-year-old was unfazed, firing back, "I could still snort you under the table." Daaaayum!
We'd like to say they broke out pugil sticks covered in broken glass and fought to the death, but you have to remember they're British, so they later went backstage to take pictures and pretend to like each other. But by our count, the tally is now Elton 1, Allen 0.
