Oprah Winfrey still won't interview Sarah Palin
Oprah Winfrey wasted no time in responding to a Drudge Report allegation today that she was refusing to interview GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin because of Winfrey's allegiance to Barack Obama. The result? A resounding heck no.
"Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on," an insider apparently told the Drudge Report. "Oprah's Web site is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama."
Not true, O claims, releasing this statement: "The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."
Y'hear that? She'll just have to wait until after the election is over, is all. 'Cause if she wins, it's not like she'll be busy. Besides, you think Oprah would do something like have Obama on her show twice already and then ignore a personality also of historical importance? Oh, wait.

What's funny to me is that as a young black woman I have never watched Oprah shows because I always felt (and this is just my observation) her show's cateres mostly to the middle class white woman and caucasians in general have loved her for that. She is able to do such things because as people have mentioned before, it is her show. What have me in such aw, is that now that she not doing what they want, they dont like her, they want to boycott her show, and it just goes on and on. These are the same audience members who in the past always loved Oprah, and now that Oprah have made a personal decision on how she wants her show to be ran and is sticking with with that decision, that love has turned into hate very quickly. It's intresting to me how people can call her racist, where it is very obvious where the prejudice lies!

Does anyone remember WHY Oprah HAS an Oprah Winfrey show....VIEWERS...she would be nothing without viewers...may be HER show, but it won't last if noone watches it!!!!

I don't like Oprah at all and am not a fan of hers by any means but um, what's the name of the show? The Oprah Winfrey Show, she should be allowed to bring on/deny anybody she wants.

One itty bitty problem for those whining about her not having
Palin on - Oprah has NOT had Obama on since he has been the Democratic candidate.

LOL, Canned speaches? Gee, just what in God's name do you think Obama has been doing for the past year? It's appalling how so many people have been duped into thinking that Obama is the answer.
Posted by: Kimberly | September 08, 2008 at 01:41 PM
First off, it is Oprah's show (see title). She can put who ever she wants on. Secondly, the Republican Party has decided that Palin is not ready for prime time and uncanned speeches, so they have been the ones to keep her from the media. In my opinion, the media should pack up and leave the McCain campaign and not write another word on them. Then we will see how much the Republican Party really counts on the media to report on all of their drama.

Palin outclasses Oprah in every way. She's too good for "Queen Oprah's" tired talkshow.
Posted by: Hanna | September 08, 2008 at 10:02 AM
I don't think she wants Palin on her show because Palin will bring out Oprah's obvious ignorance. On another note, I agree with the others - stick with Ellen.

As a Canadian who spent thirty winters in Florida I am still interested in American politics.
I was for Bush and Iraq, but knowing the truth of that war I feel sick to think that McBush might win the Presidency. And die in office and that creepy woman might be the leader of the U.S. Creationism, abstension, God wants us in Iraq? A mean comment - She has the most grating voice I've ever heard on TV.
Still miss St. Pete - the best city in the world.

Talk abour reverse discrimination. Well Oprah, you have really stepped into it deep this time; I hope the white women that you have suckered up to for 20 years finally see your true colour. You are nothin' but a "pore-@$$ Mississippi black woman that pimped herself on television and got rich. How much did you contribute to Obama's campaign?
Posted by: Hocuspocus | September 08, 2008 at 08:53 AM
Orca, is a duplicitous racist. And if you have ever really listened to her, you would find that she isn't very bright either.
Posted by: Banglijk | September 08, 2008 at 08:06 AM
Oprah is a holier-than-thou, overexposed piece of trash that has duped white women into worshipping her.
Posted by: Victor | September 07, 2008 at 06:36 PM
Oprah hates white people and more so white men. At last her true colors are coming out.
Posted by: Jay | September 07, 2008 at 04:19 PM
I believe if Obama was white (or whiter) Opera would not be endorsing him in public because there really is nothing special about him except he is a great talker. By the way, Adolf Hitler rose to power by being a great talker and look at what a tragedy that turned out to be. Of course I am not comparing Obama to Hitler but I just don't understand how Oprah and millions of other people can be so naive.

I'm still cracking up over the one poster who hit us with the "Nobama/Noprah '08" blast.
Nobody should pay any attention to Oprah. As Gina noted, Oprah often pimps advice on topics she knows nothing about (marriage and child rearing are the two best examples). She's a TV personality, and should never be confused with someone that matters.
And if she is some kind of 'guiding light' in your life, it's time you re-examined your life.

Who is she kidding? Put Obama on twice and then oops, "I am not going to have any candidates on." Sounds fair to me.
Her ratings dropped when she started playing politics. If she keeps up the garbage, she will continue to falter. Go back to man-bashing. That is what you do most of anyway. Play to the demos, but forget a fair and balanced delivery.
So much for being a religious oracle.

What a joke, don't you people see whats going on with Oprah. I remember when she got her start in Baltimore nothing special just a black woman at the right place at the right time. I was truly shocked when she came out and supported Obama the way she did, this guy is way in over his head. His experience in running anything is a total joke. This whole thing is about putting a Black man in the White House. The influence that Oprah has on woman is tremendous, if Oprah backs him so will millions of other woman. The guy is a talker, what we used call a Bull------ I'm already looking forward to 2012 when a real man will run for President a Navy Seal Independent Jesse Ventura

John get a life. It is the Oprah show. Who are you John who???? In life you can do whatever you want to do, within the will of GOD. The Obama's are smart and hardworking people. I sense a little jealousy are you smarter than a 5th grade John?????? If you where you would not drink so much hater-aid.....

While I'm disappointed by Oprah's decision not to have Sarah Palin on her show, everyone has to remember that it's a talk show. It's entertainment, not news. It's the hosts' show, and talk show hosts are allowed to be "biased" and pick-and-choose their guests to support their own interests and opinions.
Again, while I would have liked to see Sarah Palin on the show, Oprah really isn't doing anything wrong here.
(You guys are right about Ellen, though. That woman is hilarious!)

Never underestimate the stupidiy of the American people. Having said this, McBush will probably win the presdidency. I don't want to hear any McBush supporters crying when things go from bad to worse in this county. Remember what McBush said, we'll probably be in Iraq for 50 years. He's nothing but a war hawk. Another thing this war is costing us $350 million a day.

In over 20 years in the public eye, Oprah has never endorsed a candidate other than Obama. She has been very careful not to ally herself with a particular political party or group, and has never interviewed political candidates during a campaign (including Obama). Why should she break with 20+ years of tradition now?

Neal,
Sadly I do think of racists as still fighting the Civil War. I also think of them as knuckle dragging undereducated fools.
Again, it is Oprah's show. I am sure she will lose ratings over this, but she has stated she will interview no candidates before election day. They are her ratings and money to lose.
Posted by: Arlene | September 06, 2008 at 01:19 PM
Palin is the first woman in 24 years to run for the Vice Presidency of the United States, and Oprah won't put her on her show. Hillary ran a troubled but historic race to become the first female president, and Oprah endorsed Obama. Tells you all you need to know about Oprah's phony, liberal, feminist-empowerment speak.
Posted by: JB | September 06, 2008 at 12:55 PM
Arlene, you are giving people credit when you describe their thinking as "20th century". I would more likely describe it as 19th century, since all those racists are STILL fighting the civil war. Pity that some people refuse to drag their knuckles off the ground and join the modern world. "Never underestimate the stupidity of the american public".
Posted by: neil | September 06, 2008 at 11:36 AM
I believe that Oprah stated she is interviewing no candidate before the election. So the good ole good ole people slime her.
Yes, she endorsed Obama.
I am not pleased by the low classed, untrue racist slime written about Obama on this board.
I am a transplanted Norteasterner who has lived in Florida for a very long time. I still cannot believe the 20th century thinking of many in this state.
Thank God that I am not blinded by racial bias, and do read the newspaper. Another eight years of the same? We simply cannot have another eight years.

Posted by: jackie | September 06, 2008 at 09:29 AM
I agree with most here that Oprah's time is up! Here in Tampa we have a marvelous solution to the Oprah Black / white and political issue...Ellen! She sure is funnier than O. and on TV at the same time.
Posted by: Jim Williams | September 06, 2008 at 05:21 AM
Amen...it is time to deny Oprah.
Let's face it folks, we've been duped.
I am so sick of her selfishness and bias. It has been becoming more and more obvious. Oprah is only out for Oprah. She is not a journalist. She is not even a good talk show host, 'cause a good talk show host would be most concerned about ratings. She is only concerned about herself. Her issues, her needs and now her political candidate. Her motto "how can I best serve myself, off other people's backs and make myself rich while doing it."
If you don't grease her palms, you don't get anywhere .
This is my thought... Avoid her show. Avoid her sponsors. Oprah...hear this and hear it good CLICK.

IT'S TIME FOR AMERICA TO DENY OPRAH ACCESS TO OUR TELEVISION SETS.
Oprah gives advice on relationships, but has a boy friend who is a
door mat ... gives advice on marriage, but has never been married ...
gives advice on child rearing, but has no children ... gives advice on
Obama, but was a member of Jeremiah Wright's anti-American racist
church for several years. Now, her white women's audience, which made
Oprah rich, wants to know more about Sarah Palin, but Oprah says NO.
No Oprah, No Wright, no Farrakahn, no Ayers, no Rezko,
no mean Michelle, NOBAMA
Posted by: Gina | September 05, 2008 at 11:16 PM
I don't think it's a black/white issue. It's a Liberal/Conservative issue. Oprah is a part of that Far Left establishment. Palin is on the Right; that's where the discrimination lies. It can't be about race. . .since a vast majority of the women who worship her are suburban white soccer moms; white women are what made her what she is.
Posted by: Mitch | September 05, 2008 at 08:42 PM
That is why I cannot stand Oprah! She is so one sided! It is her way or the highway. She clearly can't have someone on her show that out shines her or is simply smarter than her! Yet she has loser freak boy Tom Cruise who jumps up and down like an idiot!
I will stick with Ellen who is fair and balanced.
Oprah you can have Ohcrapo to yourself.
Posted by: Stephanie | September 05, 2008 at 08:39 PM
I usually like Oprah, but what a double standard. I can have the black man on the show, but the white woman who is also making history is not important. And they say race in America is not important...
Posted by: Stacy | September 05, 2008 at 08:29 PM
It amazes me that people see Obama as just a black man. We have just as much right to call him a white man because he is 50% that, so Oprah your dreaming thinking his your black savior!!!!!

Posted by: John | September 05, 2008 at 05:12 PM
Good for Oprah! The Republican party wants her off limits to the press, so the press should respect that and not interview or cover either her or McCain
for the rest of the campaign. Give them what they want. If you are that paranoid that your star candidate is going to make a blooper, then just maybe you made the wrong choice!
