Misty May-Treanor out of 'Dancing with the Stars'
Update: When Misty May-Treanor hobbled onto the stage on crutches Monday during Dancing with the Stars, it was pretty obvious she was out of the competition. She is scheduled for surgery Tuesday to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon. Sorry, girls, but that means the season is also over for her hottie partner, bad boy Maksim Chmerkovskiy. The show didn't say whether May-Treanor's departure affects someone being booted Tuesday. That's because they want you to watch.
Did you see former Buc Warren Sapp? He was a huge vision in pink doing the waltz. Hot!
Then there was Brooke Burke, who got the first 10 of the season from crusty ol' judge Len Goodman. Misty may have been an early fave, but Brooke is the one to beat.
From earlier post: Want to see more of Misty May-Treanor on Dancing With the Stars? Too bad. Competitor Brooke Burke told 104.3 MY FM's Valentine in the Morning radio show that a torn Achilles tendon has ruined the beach volleyballer's run at another gold medal, Access Hollywood said.
DWTS producers haven't confirmed Burke's assertion yet, but did release a statement on Saturday that read: “Misty May-Treanor sustained an injury on Friday and received immediate medical attention. Despite previous reports, she did not break her ankle. She is resting comfortably at home. Doctors will reevaluate her condition on Monday and determine the outcome of her participation on the show.”
This season is turning into a regular death march, since comedian Jeffrey Ross got a scratched cornea before getting the boot and pro dancer Karina Smirnoff twisted her ankle just before the premiere.
Or maybe it's just Brooke Burke. Her partner, Derek Hough, blacked out during Saturday's rehearsal after tripping and falling.
"At Saturday’s rehearsal, Derek was walking backwards and tripped over something on the floor. He was knocked out for a brief moment and was taken to the hospital as a precaution to make sure he was okay,” a rep told Access Hollywood.
