Show cuts Bernhard for Palin gang-rape joke
Sandra Bernhard has never been all that funny, but a Boston women's shelter has booted her from a benefit for a recent crack she made last month saying Sarah Palin would be "gang-raped by my big black brothers" if the vice presidential nominee ever visited New York City.
Administrators at Rosie's Place knocked Bernhard off the lineup for an annual benefit for the remark. Since many of the women at the shelter have been assaulted, PR director Leemarie Mosca said "we don't think violence against women is a laughing matter."
The shelter will still be holding its Oct. 16 benefit luncheon: "Right now, our main focus is our event and making sure the event is a success," Mosca told the AP. "And for us, that means not including Sandra Bernhard at this time."
Bernhard defended her remark, saying, "In no way am I making any sort of joke about crimes against women - quite the contrary. I'm speaking out about someone who doesn't do enough to protect women. I think if you look at the real issues I'm addressing, my intent becomes clear. I am a die-hard advocate for women's rights, and fully support the work of Rosie's Place."
And, as is usually the case in politics, Sandra claims her remarks were taken out of context, especially since her routines lately have involved her calling Palin a "turncoat b----" who blames women for women's problems and hides behind the Old Testament.
"I certainly wish Gov. Palin no harm -- I'd just like her to explain to me how she can hold such outrageous views ... and then go back to Alaska."
Watch and extremely foul-mouthed, NSFW clip of Bernhard attacking Palin here. It's quite obvious she's not a fan.

Bernhard's closest brush with mainstream success was her role on Roseanne in the early 1990s. She's the same marginally talented performer she was back in the late '70s, milking the angry, bisexual feminist shtick for all it's worth. She wasn't terribly funny back then, and she's even less appealing today.

What is this woman famous for? Seriously, she's not funny at all, has a raunchy mouth, and is butt-ugly. I don't get it. (??)

What in the world does the "right to choose" have to do with Bernhard?
