Kid Rock angry he can't sing for sentencing

Tbdkidrock120408 Kid Rock is lucky he ended up only getting 80 hours of community service for a brawl at an Atlanta-area Waffle House last October. But now he's mad a judge won't let him pick what he should do as that community service, the AP reports. The nerve! It's like he's being punished or something.

Kid wanted to use his time performing for U.S. troops in the Middle East later this month as prrof of service, but Georgia State Court Judge Alvin T. Wong denied the request, saying the rap-rocker was going to do that anyway.

"Apparently he thinks it's more important that I do something else rather than sing, shake hands, take pictures and spend time with the men and women who put themselves in harms (sic) way to protect the very freedom he and all of us live by," the singer wrote in a message posted on his site.

Wong's take? "Giving him credit for something he would otherwise love to do in front of a camera completely defeats the punitive purpose of performing community service."

He does have a point there. Of course, Kid also gave $20,000 to an Atlanta homeless shelter, which didn't count either, so we can dig his frustation. But can he be serious when he says he can't think of anything else that would count as community service? Try doing something that's not your job already.

Wow-this really ticks me off. I just spent the last 7 years in prison and this guy gets off scott free? C'mon now! I'm not saying I didn't deserve ever second I had to spend behind bars-but I get totally humialated and punished severely and this guy gets away with nothing?

I don't know about GA, but in FL you can buy-off your community service. (I think it may have to do with what the charge was...) Used to be $50 for every hour sentenced. I would think that IF GA does allow this, he would have just paid the $$.

Well said Jessica. The man deserves recognition for his dedication to the men and women out there fighting this God awful war but the fact that he does that is completely separate from his sentence of community service. SPCA, Humane Society are very good ways to work off those hours and most find the "work" rewarding.

Though I appreciate his time given to the troops, he fails to see that he did something wrong here. He was already going to do that, so the judge is correct there. On a more intense scale, you could compare it to a community leader who builds homes for the homeless and then kills someone. Should they be able to weigh their past and future work with the group they devote themselves to in trade for their culpability? They are two separate entities as is kid rocks situation. He needs to accept that he did something wrong and do the service they assign him.

Shallow Hal how shallow you truly are. Kid Rock is one of THE MOST PATRIOTIC stars alive. He is constantly sharing his time and talent with the men and women overseas. Spends every Christmas away instead of with his own family. Supporting our Troops is very important to him. Although it does not qualify for community service, the man is continuously doing Country Service.

aren't his 15 minutes up YET???

He is just another self absorbed "star" who thinks the world should be grateful for his appearance. Hopefully this will give him a dose of reality.

Kid Rock.....

Community Service is supposed to be something like WORK, yet benefits the community too.

May I suggest working in a GoodWill for a couple weeks? The work is not hard, helps the community - and is fullfilling.
