Rihanna, Chris Brown getting back together

UPDATE: Up until this weekend, the biggest news about Rihanna was that she spent her birthday in the Mexican town of Punta Mita. People has blown that out of the water, reporting that she is getting back together with allegedly abusive boyfriend Chris Brown. Did we suddenly rewind reality or something?

“They’re together again. They care for each other,” a source says. The pair are supposedly spending their time together at a home owned by Sean "Diddy" Combs. “While Chris is reflective and saddened about what happened, he is really happy to be with the woman he loves.”

It sounds like this deal was sealed when Chris called Rihanna last week.

“He called to wish her happy birthday,” a source told the magazine. “They’ve reached out to each other. It’s been mutual.”

Meanwhile, MediaTakeOut.com has quite an incredulous report that Brown plans on pleading self-defense in answer to any possible charges that he beat the daylights out of his now-21-year-old girlfriend.

"Chris is already building his case," the site says. "He's saying she threw a phone at him, then hit him in the head and basically just lost it. He's saying she attacked him."

We find it hard to believe Chris would be so naive as to think anyone would believe that. You'd have to at least throw a bullet from a gun at him to warrant the reaction he's accused of. Of course, now it sounds like he may not even be charged, so what's the point?

Ed McMahon hospitalized with pneumonia

Ed McMahon, former sidekick, pitchman and mortgage-payment dodger, was hospitalized in intensive care, a spokesman said Friday.

The 85-year-old was suffering from pneumonia and other ailments and had been in the hospital for several weeks, spokesman Howard Bragman said. He declined to identify the Los Angeles facility or the other illnesses, but we know it's not Cedars-Sinai, because McMahon is suing them for alleged abuse and malpractice.

"It's serious," Bragman said when asked about McMahon's condition, noting his age. But, Bragman added: "We're hopeful."

McMahon's wife and family are with him and appreciate the public expressions of concern, he said.

"The family is asking for privacy and we'd like to respect that at this time," Bragman added. "We are hoping and praying for the best."

Samuel L. Jackson signs big deal with Marvel

If you've been wondering if Samuel L. Jackson had any more movies coming out, you'll be glad to hear the actor has signed an unbelievable NINE picture deal with Marvel Entertainment, Variety says. That's a whole lotta comic books.

The initial commitment is to play Nick Fury, whom geeks will recall as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., whom first we saw at the end of Iron Man and will be in Iron Man 2. The deal says the Fury character could show up in up to nine other pics, including projects in the works like Captain America, Thor, The Avengers and The Shield, plus all their possible sequels. That sound you hear is millions of comic nerds squealing with glee.

This is not a bad deal, considering Sammy J. initially was pretty torqued at Marvel over compensation issues over reprising the role. Looks like they got that whole money problem ironed out.

Gisele Bundchen, Tom Brady get married in L.A.

How sneaky of Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen, trying to get married under the radar without telling us! Why does the world's most statuesque couple insist on doing things in secret? We're going to find out anyway ...

So anyway, Bradchen (that's with a long "a") got hitched Thursday around 6 p.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica, Us says. The bride apparently wore an ivory lace strapless gown with a trumpet skirt by Dolce & Gabbana. Her three pooches also had matching floral lace collars.

The "very small and intimate" ceremony, as a source described it, was attended by immediate family, including John Edward Thomas Moynahan, Brady's 1 1/2-year-old son with actress Bridget Moynahan. There was a small reception at the couple's home in Brentwood.

This apparently settles whether or not they're engaged, huh?

Yeah, we know this fake movie trailer was on Jimmy Kimmel Live like a hundred years ago, but that doesn't make it any less funny -- or plausible, considering Hollywood's standards these days.

Even more remakes; TV shows that won't die

The Juice* is always railing on how there are no new ideas coming out of the entertainment industry, and yet a few of you cling to the ridiculous notion that remakes and the same old TV shows are somehow worth the price of admission. Well good for you, because you've got a great set of choices from the same old set of choices.

Variety and Entertainment Weekly are reporting that remakes of Arnold Schwarzenegger's Total Recall, the 1984 not-for-kids kiddie flick The Neverending Story and the Dudley Moore classic Arthur are all on the slab.

That's bad enough, but turn on the tube and you'll see that we're in for at least two more seasons of Survivor and two more seasons of The Simpsons, which, at a total of 493 episodes, would make it the longest-running TV series ever. It feels like it, too.

Brittany Snow starring in 'Gossip Girl' spinoff

Rumor has it that Tampa's own Brittany Snow has been tapped to play the lead in a Gossip Girl spinoff that dotes on Lily van der Woodsen's teen years in 1980s L.A., Star reports. It's no American Dreams, but hey, we'll take it.

"Brittany is thrilled," a friend tells the mag. "She loves the original show and thinks the 1980's concept sets the spin-off apart from other series on television. She can't wait to wear all the fabulous outfits and really sink her teeth into the role."

Word is the actress got a deal to play a young Kelly Rutherford earlier this month, and didn't even have to audition. Prom Night is really paying off!

"Brittany always thought she was going to continue her career in films," the source says. "But this is a marvelous part and she just couldn't say no. This has the potential to be a huge show in the tradition of Melrose Place."

Set your DVRs for May 11, when the pilot is set to air as an episode of Gossip Girl. We'll have our Gaither High pennants flying.

David Beckham moves into George Clooney's house

Usually when you're forced to sublet your vacation home, you have to sift through stacks of applications and check dozens of references (at least, we do when we rent our rooms at stately Juice* Manor). But not George Clooney -- he just hands over the keys to his pal David Beckham.

People says the 47-year-old actor is letting the L.A. Galaxy star stay at his Lake Como villa while George is away filming piddly TV projects like his return to ER. That's great news for Becks, who loves his loan to AC Milan so much that he's been fighting to get out of his contract with the American soccer club.

And for the record, if you want to know how these two guys met, they were introduced by Giorgio Armani at the Met Ball in New York last year. Of course, that's where we meet all our millionaire friends.

Jewel taking steroids for Dancing With the Stars

Steroids seem to be involved in every other competition, so why not Dancing With the Stars? Jewel Kilcher has taken to her blog to write about how she's battling injuries, and has taken to some prescription treatments that will help her performance.

"My knees have been hurting so badly that I finally broke down and talked to Ty's knee doctor yesterday," she wrote on Jeweljk.com. "He said I have tendonitis in my knees and that I have to start a course of medicine to try and bring the swelling down."

And what would that medicine be? Why, good, old-fashioned steroids!

"Hopefully these steroids will really do the trick and I can keep bad flare ups at a bay in the future," she added.

Now, it's not like this is anything out of the ordinary, but we really just wanted to hop on the whole "steroids are bad" bandwagon while it's rolling downhill at full speed. Besides, she's taking anti-inflammatories; it's not like she's taping the show high on PCP or anything.
