Shonda Rhimes dishes about Grey's Anatomy finale

Tbd-katherineheigl051809 While we were kicking ourselves for not figuring out what happened to T.R. Knight's character George O'Malley on Thursday night's season finale of Grey's Anatomy, series creator Shonda Rhimes was spilling her guts to Entertainment Weekly about the fates of both him and Katherine Heigl's Izzie Stevens.

“I don’t know that you should be saying ‘Which one of them lives and which one of them dies,’” Rhimes said. “I know what happens to the characters.”

It sounds like she's the only one who does, since she says the rest of the cast was kept clueless on purpose. That's what you get for badmouthing the writers, guys -- although don't count anyone out just yet.

"I don't think there are any coincidences. I think Katherine's stated publicly that she's happy to stay," Rhimes said. "I think that there have been lots of rumors about T.R., but T.R.'s never said anything. Take from it what you will."

But a big question mark besides whether those two live or die is the fact that 39-year-old Ellen Pompeo is pregnant in real-life. While Chyler Leigh's pregnancy was (not-too-well) hidden, things might be different for Meredith Grey.

“We’re still talking about what we’re going to do and what that’s going to mean,” Rhimes said. “Ellen is extraordinarily optimistic about what she’s going to be able to do.”

Because hey, she and Derek can't just live happily ever after, can they?
