Columbia Pictures wants to make 'Bad Boys 3'

Hold onto your guayaberas, Miami, because Columbia Pictures is has decided to resurrect Martin Lawrence's career with Bad Boys 3. Wow, we know Michael Bay said he wanted to take a break from Transformers, but really?

Truth be told, the flick is only in the script stages, meaning we could very well end up with Tiny Lister playing Will Smith's Mike Lowery and McG will be directing before all is said and done, but the Hollywood Reporter insists it's true.

Writer Peter Craig is working on a screenplay, and Jerry Bruckheimer may again produce. The plan is to get all the parties back together again, something THR says everyone is willing to do if the money's right and the story is there. Because the Bad Boys franchise was driven by nothing if not story. Now that's how you're sposta' make a mindless summer action flick!

Jada Pinkett wants to open a Scientology-style high school, too

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett already are funding the New Village Leadership Academy, which uses Scientology-based instructional methods, but that's not enough for them. Now Jada is saying she wants to expand the campus to include older students.

"My plan is to eventually have a high school," she told the AP. "I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm just trying to make it through this year."

The private academy already has 60 students from pre-K to sixth grade, but the folks out in L.A. couldn't get enough of L. Ron Hubbard's education techniques, which have been likened to the Montessori style of teaching. Pinkett says she decided to open the school after creating a home-school program for kids Jaden, 10, and Willow, 8.

"More and more parents were like, 'Can we come?' " she said. "Then my house started to fill up. We had like 20 kids and I said, 'We might as well start a school.' "

The school has insisted again and again that it is not a Scientology facility, but in the gossip pages, anything goes. In fact, did you know that Will Smith actually is L. Ron Hubbard? All it took was years of vocal training and plastic surgery. And Jada? Now you know what happened to Amelia Earhart.Surprising, isn't it?

Will and Jada Smith look out for Chris Brown, Rihanna

Will Smith and wife Jada are both being supportive of Rihanna and Chris Brown, telling Extra that they'll do anything they can to help the pair out after last week's alleged squabble-gone-wrong.

"Jada and I reached out to both of them," Will said at the NAACP Image Awards. "If it's help they need, then let's get it right. ... This is a time where they need to be left alone and if they have things they need to work out, work it out."

Will also asked the public to quit making up things about the incident and wait for the facts to come to light: "People should take a minute before they jump on it and judge. We don't know nothing. If there are mistakes people make, then they should be willing to live up to the mistakes and do whatever penance they need to do. I don't think it's up to us, specifically the media, with such a fast hand to try to chop someone's head off."

Yes, that damned media once again has the nerve to turn an argument that apparently ended with a famous man punching his famous girlfriend in the face into a newsworthy event. How dare we! But we'll agree that we're tired of hearing made up stuff. Next thing you know, reports will say Brown ran her over with a car before blowing up her house.

Will Smith gave more money to Scientology

Stand back, everyone, Fox News wants you to know that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett gave $122,500 to the Church of Scientology in 2007, before he gave $1 million to the New Academy this year. How dare he give his money away!

According to tax records, the couple's charitable foundation paid out $67,500 to the New York Rescue Workers Detoxication Fund, $50,000 to the church's Celebrity Center in Hollywood and $5,000 to ABLE, which is another Scientology-affiliated entity. This must mean he's a pal of L. Ron Hubbard, right?

Well, not so fast. That sum pales in comparison to the $250,000 he gave born-again Christian-run Yesha Ministries of Philadelphia, or the $200,000 for L.A. Christian ministry Living Waters. In all, they gave out $1.3 million in charitable gifts in 2007 to places like an L.A. mosquem the Yitzhak Rabin Memorial Center in Israel and the Progeria Research Foundation. So if we're making inferences, Smith is a born-again Jewish Scientologist who needs to make the Hajj before he ages prematurely. Who knew?

Will Smith's son Jaden is the next 'Karate Kid'

Did you enjoy Will Smith's son Jaden being all cute and emotionally scarred in The Pursuit of Happyness? Get ready to see a lot more of the 10-year-old in action, since DigitalSpy says the young man has landed a spot in a Karate Kid retread. Oh, is nothing from the 1980s sacred?

The Web site says the movie will follow the plot of the original, but obviously with someone else playing Mr. Miyagi, since Noriyuki "Pat" Morita died in 2005. Papa Smith is on board to produce the remake, which is about as necessary as another Star Wars prequel. They already killed the franchise with Part III, let alone that one with Hilary Swank. Just let it go, Columbia.

Will Smith says he's not a Scientologist. Again.

There's been rumor after rumor about Will Smith and wife Jada being converted to pal Tom Cruise's Scientology teachings, but the actor tells Fox News once again he ain't tryin' to hear that, see?

Roger Friedman cornered Smith at the premiere of Lakeview Terrace, which Smith co-produced with James Lassiter, and asked the actor if he granted a press conference with everyone's favorite anti-Scientology troublemakers, Anonymous.

“Not exactly a press conference, but I did talk to them,” Smith said. So is Big Willie a member of the church?

“I am not,” he said, but did admit the school he's funding in suburban L.A. is using some teaching methods from the CoS. Not that there's anything wrong with that: “You can take different parts of things you like and put them all together.” Just like a salad bar!

That sounds great and all, and even Anonymous seems satisfied with Will's answers to their questions (pointing out "his concern both as a parent and educator"), but we can't help but picture auditing sessions in the principals office. We'll have to wait and see how the Study Tech pans out.

Will Smith: The Man in Green

Somewhere in America, DJ Jazzy Jeff is probably homeless. Uncle Phil is likely eating from a garbage bin. But the Fresh Prince himself, Will Smith? He’s only the top moneymaker in Hollywood, according to Forbes. The mag unveiled its list of the top celebrity earners, actor/actress division, and Smith takes the gilded taco, bringing in $80 million in 2007. Guess there’s good money to be made in fighting zombie dogs. The rest of the top 5:

2. Johnny Depp, $72 million. That’s a lot of quirky hats.

3. (tie) Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers, $55 million. We were as shocked as you to see the stars of Meet Dave and The Love Guru this high. But then we saw who was next ...

Will Smith is supposedly a Scientologist again

We've said Will Smith was flirting with Scientology before, but Life & Style reports that the Fresh Prince was still up to his purported preachiness on the set of his upcoming flick, Hancock. Convenient that this comes out just as it's getting ready to open, yes?

"He gave out Scientology-like pamphlets at the end of the shoot," says writer Andrew Morton, the guy who was getting sued by Tom Cruise for writing an unauthorized biography about him last year. He's an authority, you know. "It's also been said that he and Jada are homeschooling their children in Scientology methods."

That probably comes from rumors that the couple are financing the New Village Academy in Calabasas, Calif., this fall. The school is supposed to have Scientology ties, but we don't go there, so we don't know. We do know the academy told the L.A. Times it's a nonreligious school, though.

The summation from Morton: “So between that, the pamphlets, the school in Calabasas, and his close friendship with Tom, it seems all the evidence leads one to conclude that he is a part of this organization.”

And by that logic, the fact that The Juice* owns a Tampa Bay Rays cap, attends games, watches them on TV and is a big Akinori Iwamura fan, means we'll be playing shortstop next week. It's true!
