Denis' save
If you haven't seen Marc Denis' tremendous save on Olli Jokinen from Tuesday's game, go to nhl.com, click on video, get to the correct day and click on the Lightning/Panthers game. There is a link to "SAVES.'' It's worth your time.
Also, if you want a laugh, go on YOUTUBE and search "Know your teammate'' and watch Vinny Lecavalier and Marty St. Louis crack each other up. Did you know they have a song?

Follow the Lightning through the season with beat writer Damian Cristodero and the Times sports staff. We invite your participation in the comments area.
Aaaargh!................Journey? are you kidding? Massive loss of props (off the ice) for Marty and Vinny.
As for THE save........find a better higlight so far this season.

Glad to finally see the save...games like that are SO HARD to have to listen to on the radio!
I'm happy to see you put up the video...it just cracks me up.

I am glad to see Denis making saves like that. Now he needs to do it again and again and again!!!!!!!!

I agree. That was a great save. Now let's hope he can start earning his HUGE salary!

Are YOU kidding ME? Journey is awesome! Steve Perry is one of the best vocalists of all time! OK, off my soapbox...
Great save. AMAZING save BUT I hope we won't need for him to do that too many more times. GO BOLTS! KICK MAJOR BUTT TONIGHT!

If the D keep their heads in the game and don't leave the back door wide open, neither goalies will have to pull saves like that. But, this is a TEAM sport. So all for one and one for all!
Go Bolts. A win in ATL tonight, apart from the obvious points, will prove the guys are back on it again.

Def. love Journey. that was great so was Denis that night. Wasn't his fault it went to a shootout. But then again, we win a lot of shootouts so whose complaining??
Posted by: | February 22, 2007 at 05:42 PM
Yeah, now all you guys get on here and say how "Denis won the game lastnight".
Posted by: | February 23, 2007 at 06:50 AM
Just enjoy it for what it was. A win is a TEAM effort, and a big win at that. I watch the games for fun and enjoyment, not heartburn about who is on the roster. I wouldn't care if Bobo the clown was in goal as long as he could stop one less goal than the other team and could do it every night. Give Denis his props when he earns 'em. November and December this blog was full of postings calling for Ritchie to be traded, that he sucked, made too much money etc.(yawn) etc.etc.
Those advocates are now conspicuous by their absence. If it wasn't Denis, it would be someone else getting the vitriol. This team has rocked since early January, with both Denis and Holmer on the TEAM and between the pipes. Go Bolts!!!!

Hey Keith, I'd swap Richie for Ryan Smyth so fast, ladies would complain (yet again ;~P) and I wouldn't need a smoke afterward.
Best to not diddle with the locker room at this particular point in time, however.
I am in complete accord the rest of the way though...

It's just human nature to find someone to blame when times are going rough. Brad is heating up although i still think someone else would fix the problem. Do we need any blame right now? Of course we've been playing overtime games forever. Maybe it has something do with defense?

Danny Boyle *cough cough

3 million dollars, lost Modin, .883 save pct, 4 goals against in 2nd most recent game, pulled in the most recent game -- oh, and one nice glove save against one of the worst teams in the league.
By the way, anybody remember Sean Burke? You know, that former all-star who we basically "hired to fail" last year -- that guy we totally abused by throwing him in cold turkey every month or so and expecting him to stand on his head or sit another month? The guy we banished to the minors? He's got a 93.1 save percentage with the Kings.
Can we get a mulligan?

JB you are right on the money. Nothing left to say. I was thinking I’m only one don't have orgasms from watching that glove save. I think everybody trying convince them self to see miracle end it’s not happening.. But this gay Denis looks pretty god on the bench.

Word on the streets is that Denis went to the locker room immediately after being pulled in Friday's game. While fans were initially fearful that Denis was injured while flopping like a freshly-landed fish on a dock, we later learned that he was just going to get a fresh coating of hair gel. Phew!
Posted by: Fred | February 24, 2007 at 06:13 PM
Actually Fred, I was at last nights game and that did not happen. As for the flopping, what else can you do when your defenseman spend more time lying on ntop of you than the other teams players?
My disgust for all of you Denis bashers had already been documented, so I'll leave you with this: Do you think Freddy Modin would have stayed here in Tampa after this season? i dont.
Damian, no report on the trade today? I'v ecstatic. The bolts got a big, young, DEFENSIVE, defenseman. I'm glad Feaster didnt sit on his hands this year
Posted by: josh | February 24, 2007 at 06:34 PM
Well, what ever happen I thing Fred give us very accurate pictures how 99% of fans feel and its funny.
By the way I was not at last game and anybody can explain to me what happen with Holmer last night? I was thinking it’s a mistake with statistics.
Posted by: Rudy | February 24, 2007 at 06:55 PM
For God's sake let's not get nuts like Atlanta's Waddell. Whatever he's been smoking, he put the pipe down long enough to mortgage the Thrashers' future for Tkachuk. We can cheer this mistake, even if they outlast us this post-season---NFL. (Not Freakin' Likely) We only have 3 or 4 guys who need the butane turned up higher, under their fanny. We can run with anybody. Glad we got the gritty OB, a kid who looks like he eats his Wheaties and gives relief & confidence to our goalies. (Turning up the butane beneath #30?) It wasn't just Pronger out there helping Giguere and Bryzgalov look All World. Anaheim bloggers already bemoan the loss.
Posted by: Phantom | February 25, 2007 at 03:09 PM
I was going to wait for the new topic before posting this, but I'll get it out of the zone now. Please forgive...
Thanks Jay! At first look this OB kid will be a nice fit. Sort of a Paul Ranger with muscle. His game is improving each year and if he and Ranger pair up to push each other (OB helps Ranger stay focused, Ranger helps OB learn to selectively visit the sin bin and both keep the plus/minus a plus.), we'll have a heck of a future blue line tandem.
He's no Sydor for the Cup thrust, but I can already see our netminders sigh relief with our new crease watchdawg. Can you imagine Denis getting more relaxed and mysteriously better with the addition of a +5 blueliner?
I can.
Holmer can take his stuff to the next level of elite as well, if OB is worth his salt.
Heavy price though, doubtful Coleman would've surpassed Ramo or Boutin in their race to the NHL. If we can dump a slacker to get another pick-doesn't have to be a 1st or 2nd-I wouldn't mind extra, extra picks in the 3,4 rounds, we-be-fine.
Lightning Nation, clear thy pipes to cheer loud and proud in April, May, & June. (If nobody gets hurt.)
Every danged shift, every dad-burn game.
Play it like this is the game you want to be remembered for.
Go you maniac Bolts!
