Presume you've all seen this elsewhere on the site, but in case you've missed it, here is the full-length Halpern story. Sounds like he pretty much trashed every ligament there is to trash.

Someone's math is off...6 months from now is not September, its December, almost halfway through the season...

Actually, six months from now is the beginning of October which is when the regular season starts. It said waiting 4-6 weeks before doing the surgery so that seems to be a little over a month into the regular season. It sounds like a nasty injury so I wouldn't be that surprised if it is more like December though.

No, if you read the article, it says 4 to 6 weeks of waiting to let the injury settle, then the surgery, then 5 to 6 months of rehab. That puts it into middle of November, possibly December....

Karma, That's all I have to say about this guy.

The dark cloud continus to hang over this team even in the offseason. I bet we do not see Halpern until janaury. The man's knee is a total wreck.

Big Tex, why do you say this is "Karma" for Halpern? The guy was a true work horse once he got to the Lightning. Torts recognized his leadership and gave him the "C" for the US national team. Is there something that I'm missing here?

but hey guys, at least I didn't have anything to do with THIS bludner!

ps) where are my Krispy Kremes???

Um, that's what I said...a month and a half into the season is the middle of November. You are the one who is saying December and half the season gone.

Oh man, both knees reconstructed ?
Good luck with that.
Jeff will make a nice coach.

BigTex, I'm not sure why you said this happening to Halpern is "karma". He's a great guy, and he'll really be missed while he's not in the lineup.

Get well soon Jeff!

While being an unmitigated disaster for Jeff and for the team and all of us, the knee is not a TOTAL wreck. Just from this same type of impact to the outside of the knee, it could have been not only the complete rupture of the ACL but also a complete rupture of the MCL rather than an admittedly horrible Grade III tear. And it could have been a COMPLETE tear of the meniscus, not just a small partial tear. THAT would have been a total wreck, and MONTHS LONGER rehab.

We can count our blessings along with the passing days and months of Halpern's recovery. He'll be back.

get well soon Jeff

Halpern is FINISHED. I know for sure.
Too bad.

I know for sure that benoit has had NOTHING substantive to contribute, EVER, to this blog.
