For what it's worth: Lightning contacts Sundin

Kind of fun to think about but even the person, who told said this and is close to the organization, admitted "it's a long shot," but the Lightning apparently contacted representatives for Mats Sundin.

Now, again, caution. It apparently was nothing more than a feeler. But Sundin is friends with newly signed Gary Roberts.

Asked about it, Roberts said only, "I made a call to him, let's leave it at that."

Man, wouldn't that be something? On the other hand, with Radim Vrbata coming to the team and all the other signings, at some point doesn't the Lightning just have to sit back and say, good job, and enjoy the view?

Wow, $10 mil/per year. He better produce 120 points for that amount of dough.

At that price, TB can no longer afford him. GOOOD.

Sportsnet reporting Vancouver has offered him a 2-year $20 million contract. Absolutly NUTS!!!! STAY AWAY!! This guy is not worth this much.

Aaaagh!
Leave some for Us, wouldya?!
P.

convenient bit of leaked news...just stoking the fires with big names...this team has gotten itself all over the papers by making some courageous and\or decisive moves, and now they're just having fun with the media.....i guarantee you that we'll be in the top 3 "teams to watch" in every preseason preview...you can't buy this kind of coverage, and at the end of the day this will be an intelligently assembled team to boot...with all these defensively responsible forwards and a less chancey defensive strategy, i think defense and goaltending will continue to improve while scoring should be almost automatic with all the offensive skill we've got now stretching down to the 3rd line....apparently management agrees...

Too expensive, too old. Priority right now should be getting a top D-Man.

Oren, dont rush it. Look at building the blue liners.

don't need him

NO, we need D

Signing Sundin doesn't make sense.

i really wanted Rolston but Vrbata makes a lot of sense as well. Vrbata is 6 years younger, going to get better, and will cost $2 million less than Rolston. Can't argue though Rolston brings a lot to the table.

Ya never know if Sundin gets a call from Roberts saying, sign here cheap, make a cup run, and enjoy the sun in the meantime. Sundin could pull a Chris Chelios and sign way below what he is worth.

But Bobby - stacked with what - wingers??? What about the D? I will admit that I am rethinking this only because it would seriously tick off some Canadian and Leaf fans. You can only imagine he would be booed the whole game when they play TB - even at home.

WHAT WHAT WHAT?!?!!

I'm still hoping that somehow the Rolston thing will work out. We would be STACKED.

Oh please no - why bring this guy in? He is going to want in the $7 million range - what do we really need him for? Get some d-men a goalie and trade Kuba to get some picks back and some cap space.
