Lightning sale delayed again

The final step in OK Hockey's $200-million deal to buy the Lightning, the St. Pete Times Forum lease adn 5.5 adjacent acres will not close today as hoped. Lightning spokesman Bill Wickett said all sides are confident it will happen either Wednesday or Thursday.

"Nobody is panicking," he said. "It's purely procedural."

In fact, it is Canada Day, a national holiday, up north. More importantly it is a bank holiday. As the story goes, one of the banks handling part of OK Hockey's money transfer was closed.

Canada Day is our version of Independence Day. Nothing's open up there. Don't worry about it.

I'm sure PSE would appreciate the irony of the sale falling through and philosopically accept being on the hook for the new salaries.

Wouldn't that be some s@#$ if this sale didn't even go through and they just signed all these players. That would suck!!!

Well, who has the time on a day like this?!? I'm sure it will get done.

Big shopping spree...then Oops, we were joking...

Hmm ... I wonder what the hold up is.
