Lightning signs Scott Jackson

The Lightning signed free agent defenseman Scott Jackson to a three-year, entry-level contract.

From the team announcement:

Jackson, a 6-foot-4, 213-pound native of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, played in 58 games with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League last season.  He scored six goals and recorded 23 points with one power-play goal.  He ranked second among defensemen on the team in plus/minus rating with a plus-25.  His 23 points and six goals also ranked third on the team among defensemen.

The 21-year-old played the previous six seasons with the Seattle. In 326 games with the Thunderbirds, the 21-year-old scored 23 goals and recorded 119 points with 209 penalty minutes. He also appeared in 42 career playoff games, recording four goals, 17 points and 33 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the second round, 37th overall, at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

With them possibly getting rid of Boyler, I renewed my season tickets why?

Geo, that is kind of an idiotic comment about not playing 5 forwards at Norfolk. We have loads of defensive prospects and Norfolk will be well stocked in that regard. I'm wondering why there not signing Darche and McDonald to 2 way contracts as we desperately need their depth at Norfolk.

Seen this kid the last several years - not bad - not great - but not bad. Will needs a few years in Norfolk to come even close to being "NHL Ready". So at least sometimes in Norfolk at least we won't just be playing 5 forwards.

good, Norfolk, may actually have a full roster this year instead of having to have tryouts to fill it...

i am FURIOUS, ABSOLUTELY 100% BAFFLED AND FURIOUS that they are getting rid of Boyle. I feel like I'm watching my dad kick my brother out of the house right after he said "welcome home". Ridiculous.

Knowing its the minors vs nHL but it is still +25 in 58 vs -29 in 34. DFB loses

yeah...he's the one with the afro

Wasn't he one of the Jackson Five?

is this our defensive help? Tell me again why they are moving Boyle.
