Former Lightning goaltender coach Jeff Reese has interviewed with the Maple Leafs, but apparently was not offered the job. Reese has a year left on his contract with the Lightning but has been replaced.

PD,
If that trade took place, do you think the Leafs would be able to sign Bou to a long term deal? He's only under contract until June 30, with him being stuck in hockey hell for all these years, don't you think he might be more interested in signing with an contender and not a team constantly in rebuild mode?
Having been a big Toronto fan before moving to Tampa I don't understand the love for McCabe. He was a pretty good d-man in the pre-lockout era, but the new rules have made his obstructionist methodology and his can-opener ineffective.
If Martin trades away Bouwmeester then he should be fired as GM. 2 seasons ago: Luongo, this off-season Jokinen and Bouwmeester. Does he understand how to build a franchise, or just tear them apart?
Flasher right on/ the Leafs want to keep Kubina. Wilson loves him and traded for him last year in SJ but Kubina nixed it. His no trade kicks back in Aug 15. He may end up the captain.
Mcacbes the guy they have to move and supposedly a deal in priciple has been approved for Boumeester..McCabe, Steen and a conditional pick. Who knows.
Score for Leafs if it happens. Boumeester and Schenn would be rather impressive.
Regarding McCabe vs Kubina, TFP reporting (from Toronto Sun) that Fletcher likely to keep Kubina and McCabe will eventually say yes to a move in September so he won't have to go to anybody's training camp....
See, this is what I hate about calendars - they all have months on them called "July" and "August" when no hockey action occurs, and people get so bored they start going mad, arguing about nothing, posting messages under other people's names, etc. (Same stuff that happens during the season, only we have actual hockey to focus on & drown it out)
O October we beseech thee, hasten thy arrival with all speed, amen
Yep, 4 goals for Winninpeg would be right. However you could have fond that on the internet just like I did. How about a personal game description or happening that was not recorded?
Sorry Dude but you don't even do a passing imitation of Barry. If you're Barry how many goals did you score during the 79'-80' season and what team were you playing for?
Hi ya haockey fans. I just wanted to drop in and tell you how happy I am to be coming to such a great team and a hockey crazed town like Tampa. The history and tradition run both long and deep here and I'm genuinely proud to be a part of it.
Hopefully you'll forget my past transgressions and receive me with open arms and hearts.
I promise that this newly designed team will revitalize a winning tradition in this town as long and flowing as my superior mullet.
Well Thanks guys and gals for getting this started.
Tack as far as the new Jersey it is an additional one the way I see it. If you scroll down to the other section it says not my Jersey or something like that. It is Bolts blue and the name on the Jersey is just BOLTS.
I suggested they do like the Islanders did and use the lace ups in the front of the jersey as a form of a throw back. I like it but not to replace one just additional. By the way what is the weather like in Qatar as it is freakin 300 damn degrees here in Lakeland or it seems so..
No comments on Reese as I think he had a tough job as well. I wish him luck in the future as I did all the coaches that left.
Now lets get ready to play some hockey folks. I know that Brandon is getting spiffed up and ready for the guys.
Looking forward to seeing the old and the new faces. No pun intended.
A lot has been said about Koules and OK hockey. There were many doubters and naysayers. After reading the article, it further improved my opinion and confidence in him as an owner. Seems very business savvy, so he is concerned about the bottom line. But he is also very interested in putting the best team possible on the ice, even making a big time trade deadline deal ! I am very excited about training camp and the regular season. GO BOLTS!
What's up with Chris Dingman doing Lightning Hockey Night instead of Dave Andreychuk? I heard them interview Stamkos last night. Nothin' special said. He's just trying to stay in shape in preparation for the season.
I imagine the guys are trying to enjoy the last few weeks of their summer with their families before reporting for camp.
Jon Jordan, The Lightning Blogger at hockeybuzz.com says there is no deal imminent or assured. He said Lawton is out kicking tires but that the Bolts are probably not looking to take on a huge salary or sell themselves short on a deal. He is meeting with Oren Koules today though and could have some news tonight.
I've been hearing from some of the rumor mills that Toronto may be trading Brian McCabe here, and in other similar sites we are near pulling a trigger to ship forwards to the Grand Ol' Opry to get some Ds. Any word on any of this?
DC,
Since we often taken over the blog before we are going to try to do so now or die of boredom.
Any updates on the rehab of Vinny, Jeff, Paulie and Craiger? Who has heard anything about anything other than the prospect camp?
What type of schedule are we looking at for training camp? Anything special other than the guys of course for the fans? Hey how about having A great deal of lightning gear available for sale in the pro shop.
How about selling forum bucks cards there so that the fans could get a head start on the new shirts etc.
Just a few ideas. Now I open the floor to the fellow bloggers..
Sun Sports says the are braodcasting Ice Fest on Aug 27th according to their schedule. I'm guessing the new owners have some big splash planned to announce the event.
The deal is whether they call it resigning or being fired Torts has left the building. Anyway any news of were Torts is? Is there any news on his interview with New York?
I have been in stats I and stats II class all summer as well as working and of course playing and I feel like I have been in a cave. I hope like hell training camp and the season gets here pretty darn quick. This blog has been boring for the past two weeks and I have only been on a couple of times a week versus many times a day.
Were the heck is DC and how long is his freaking vacation? I guess I need to get a job at the paper versus insurance eh?
Is Ice Fest going to happen this year or is it a bust any ideas?
Go Bolts!!
Hey - did you know that Torts resigned?? At least according to Koules' interview with Sporting News he did. I seem to recall him being fired but I guess I am just once again not really hearing what they really said so I think they are lying later on. http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=442426
I'd be surprised if he got picked up by anyone. At least for this year. A couple bad goalies that don't/can't get developed are bad news for the resume.
Also things have been silent out of the NYI camp, unless I slept through a coach hiring.
"Former Lightning goaltender coach Jeff Reese has interviewed with the Maple Leafs, but not, apparently, to fill the same position he held with Tampa Bay."
Who'dathunkit. If the MakeBelieves are rubbing any brain cells together, they'll keep the guy as far away from their goaltenders as possible

That's a steal of a deal for BoMe. Fletcher should be arrested for highway robbery. Martin could have gotten a lot more at the trade deadline.

Would Panthers want a McCabe since their last trade with Tor for Kilger worked out so well for them?...but, then again, they are the Panthers...

I'm not sure we want a guy who doesn't want to come to our training camp. I'd say the Sens were a more likely destination.

Ok another clue
The team I played on 1st had a Hall of Famer in the lineup and two current NHL coaches.
Over to you St. Pete (a beautiful place from what I see).

4 or 5..here's a hint, it was collld.

Sorry about the misspelled "Hockey". Trust me when I say that I'm a better hockey coach than a speller!
Take care.

A little hard on Reese..he would have been a better goalie last than most that he had to coach.
Posted by: PD | August 07, 2008 at 04:22 PM
Oh yeah I forgot... Good riddance Jeff Reese. You coached like you tended goal. Flopping around on your back like a fish!

Forget MCCabe. He gets to call his team and it's not Tampa.
Possibly he Ok's a deal to Panthers as part of a Boumeester deal along with Stein.

Hockey Chick,
Is it official that TB is going to a new uniform?
I am so behind on news about the bolts. I am in Qatar. At least I will make it back for the regular season.
