Steven Stamkos: first NHL brawl broadens his horizons

Rookie C Steven Stamkos wasn’t spoiling for his first NHL fight, didn’t pick out the biggest and/or baddest bully in the schoolyard to make the point that he wouldn’t be pushed around. But he still seemed pleasantly contented two days after a hard check incited fisticuffs with the Rangers’ Nikolai Zherdev at the St. Pete Times Forum.
Stamkos, who had two notable tussles in juniors, said he inherited his edge from his father, Chris, and learned his moves from watching hockey his whole life.
“My dad, he was a pretty aggressive hockey player when he played,” grinned Stamkos, who is listed at 6-foot-1, 196 pounds. “He wasn’t the biggest guy, but he was known for being feisty. I guess with me being his son, I kind of carry on that trait a little bit.
“It’s a fun part, to be physical out there and the odd fight here and there. It’s about playing fearless hockey. You go out there and create offensive chances by being physical and you’re going to stick up for yourself when need be.”

well aware you aren't ajax Flasher..couple years expeience.

No PD, I asked because most of the bloggers have some dissenting opinions on things have unique styles, yourself included, but Kincaid seems to have mirrored your style of blog and response. Its not a criticism if you are Kincaid, as several bloggers have had multiple personas including you, Ajax, and Casper just to mention a few. As you should be able to tell, Ajax and I do not remotely leave the same type of blog or post and have had some differing opinions. But identical opinions, responses, and style "looks" like the same person...that's all..

Flasher I was Bear couple years back, I mentioned that a few weeks ago, we had imposters then too. Switched

Heh Flasher lots of dissenting opinions
real question, are you Ajax?

Many people are comparing Stamkos, who has played 22 games in the NHL, to Daigle, who has played 600+ games in the NHL? Please point me to a reputable sports website or article making that comparison.

What is up with all the propaganda that is being spewed on this blog lately?

We've got one hater who needs a private moment every time the lightning lose and sounds like there is another who can't wait for Stamkos to not pan out. If your attention span lasts long enough to follow him over a next two seasons, I think will end up disappointed.

PD, you were Bear at one time also. If you are not Kincaid then you were siamese twins separated at birth...

The man is right about both I must say.

That's funny flasher, its the pod people.

Kincaid, are you PD?

Sure Patrick but he better hurry because many are now comparing him to the guy that is rated the 2nd biggest draft flop of all time.. Alexander Daigle. They even look alike.

Guys who's rated the biggest draft flop of all time? Hint he's with the Bolts this year too.

Kincaid,

Stamkos is overrated because he's not dominating the NHL after playing 20+ games? Give the guy a couple seasons, please. There have been plenty of great NHL players who had modest rookie seasons who developed into great players, Vincent Lecavalier and Mark Messier to name two.

Steve Stamkos tough guy.
Steve Stamkos vastly over rated.

Now its time to fearlessly start scoring a little more young man!

Prefer If he would just score a lot, let Koci break his hand...
