Mike Lundin on waivers
Defenseman Mike Lundin was put on waivers at noon today and was sent back to Tampa to wait word on whether he will be assigned to AHL Norfolk or picked up by another team. We will know at noon Saturday.
Lundin, 24, had been a healthy scratch in three of the past five games and played fewer than seven minutes in the two games he played. The fall came quickly, too, as Lundin as November turned into December was playing anywhere from 11 to 17 minutes.
Wing Steve Downie, who gave a bit of a jolt of energy to the lineup, was sent down to Norfolk. LW Matt Pettinger (knee) is off injured reserve and is expected to play Saturday against the Senators.

It's NEVER a Montreal Canadien's fault, you know that Olin.
Whatever Plecky said or did gives NOONE the right to TOUCH the CH logo.
As fer the Priceberg, I think We're just puttin' Halak on display and concocted a story to back it up.
The Kid's fine.
Tell your girl it's just business.

kincaid, you are wrong on the age of the group in the list. I went thru the first 20 three are 19 the rest are north of 20. Good luck with your math son.

...Leo, don't you think Plecky initiated some sort of trash for V4 to jab at him???? I'm sure V4 didn't do it for no reason...Your "everglades gal" was here last nite and gave her a nice signed Priceberg 8x...and her rep jersey is on the way..By the way why isn't he playing, she ask's. IR? I see your Denis was called up.

Kincaid - Not an alibi just a statement of fact. 18 no coaching from the melman. In fact Mel was more interested in his private cell phone calls, would leave practice and the story about smoking a cigar the day before the fl game was not the first pratice missed by the dope. He had no interest in coaching. He had no system it was a huge mistake by the owners.
The team all players suffered under his joke of coaching. Hockey today is about systems, installing them, praticing them, playing them, drafting for them, and believing in them. It is always from the goal out. We have the goalie and another in the wings, Helinius (sp), "D" is a work in progress Mel's pick's did not work out and most are gone. And remember how he HATED BOYLE every single game he covered he moaned about what a weak 'D' man he was. Well he got his wish and his choice went belly up. Nice going Mel Poop. Go back read his words from day 1. " We will be a totally NEW TEAM, tough strong defence, and power team. Those are his words from June on. He told you that first day Boyle was gone and he worked the deal.
Enough - I'll watch the game tonight look for mild improvements and know that sometime in the future we will have a team who contends. I waited 10 years for the first run I can wait for the next. Just think JD and the Toronto slugnuts have been waiting since when and he is still a rabid fan. We are the same. Hockey Fan first, team fan second. Have a nice day

Tell you what, Bingo,
Like I've said LOTSA times: NEVER bring'em up and neither will I.
Never, ever, cast even the SHADOW of disrespect on the CH and I won't jump to the barricades.
Other teams is fine. YOUR team is fine.
Never The Beautiful Team.
Same deal as always.

Except Bingo most the others on that list are 18 0r 19 too..Alabiing that he is only 18 doesn't wash with Stamkos.
We could have traded down grabbed Dougherty and received another top pick and been in a much better spot.

That's great stuff! Can you give us a bit more?

I was to busy ROTFLMAO.

Comments and observations:
Leo - Get over the CH crap. It's is a team not a brother who died in Nam or Irag or family killed by someone. Have a couple cold ginger ales and mellow out.
Lundin - He was ok as a rook last year but went backwards. He was told to gain some weight and improve the play in the corners he did not and is now on waivers.
Melrose - Will return to bashing the Bolts as he has every year including 04. I have it on tape and there is no denying it.
Owners - You have really mucked with th team. Some decisions good, Smith, Malone and Recchi good additions. The rest still to be determined. Tochet is the one and we are starting to see the style he wants and expects from the players. Game on pre-season is over.
Vincent - You are a great player just not a Captain not enough fire in the belly to play that role. Be a man give it up and I would pass it on to Malone that is my choice.
Stamkos - He's 18 what did you expect the next coming of Gretsky? He is going to be great by the time he is 21. Too bad Melrose could not coach and that is why just lately it is starting to look like he belongs.
To the rest of the fans, players and bloggers - I go to watch hockey, it is my favorite sport to watch. Am I disenchanted with my teams results yes, but it is entertainment and a means to vent at the lousy play, great play, jokes for refs and to be with friends.
Enjoy the game c ya all Thursday.

On BoltFlashers anonymity comment, right Koules doesn't deserve it. Also on anonymity, wrong, Barrie has hid behind it whilst totally ruining this team
Go Olie and the Bolts!

I don't need to use veil anonymity,I told him to his face @the Ice Palace, that he and his group had turned this team into a joke, and if he want to change that he need to get a REAL GM,culeless Lawton won't get it done.
Posted by: Badbud | December 13, 2008 at 07:51 AM
Interesting comment on ESPN: "Koules would probably have enjoyed the first few paragraphs of this column, but said he doesn't go online to read hockey stories anymore because of all the personal attacks he read over the summer and early in the season on places other than ESPN.com."
Way to go you morons who like to use personal attacks behind the veil of internet anonymity...

Patrick,
You might be right but I don't think so.
MikeP,
I'm chillin', baby. Don't tell Us why We booed. We KNOW why We booed.
We booed cuz your boy speared the CH.
We weren't booing afore he did.
Yes or no?
Still though,
Great game for TB; gotta admit.
Was it your best game of the season?
If not, which was?
Peace.

Just read this and talk about a strange strange game. Tonight Dallas played Detroit and won 3-1 despite being outshot 38-24 (empty net at the end) but I am reading the stat line and see Hutchinson, Janik and Sydor. Yes I am telling the truth. Hutch and Janik both played 10 minutes and were paired together (both a minus 1) Sydor, slo as molasses Sydor played 23 minutes. And Dallas won. Crazy.

Top 50 Rookies this year.
http://tsn.ca/columnists/scott_cullen/?id=259425&lid=headline&lpos=secStory_nhl
Stamkos leads!! (worst +/-)
Flop so far you would have to say.
No excuses when ranked against rookie peers.
lets come back with Zilla in Ottawa and split the trip.
Posted by: Kincaid | December 12, 2008 at 10:29 PM
Ottawa got hammered tonight. They only dressed 5 Dmen. They have exact same problem as we do, maybe worse. Despite what PD says, when Kuba and Picard are 1-2, might explain lots of their issues. I have heard it on TV and read it, having lots of problems advancing the puck out of their own zone. League low on even strength goals. Heatley and Spezza both only played 17 minutes tonight. Got to believe Ottawa might have a chip on their shoulder after tonight's dismal showing. Somehow I think they are a bit closer to turning it around than we are. Signing all of those forwards in tough eco times has handcuffed us a bit trying to get some D. Ottawa has about 30 million tied up in 4 forwards, I wonder how often teams have to go that route before they realize you need some back-in help to get them the puck.

Avery?...PLEAZZE NO!!! I cringe over the possibility of seeing Avery wearing the lightning bolt the same way I cringed that the mullet might be coming here...can't stand the guy...
Posted by: Boltflasher | December 12, 2008 at 09:24 PM
What was I thinking. I believe in character at all cost and surely he doesn't fill the bill. Shame on me, I was lured by the dark side. Stay the course, yes I will.
Posted by: ajax | December 12, 2008 at 09:08 PM
i TOTALLY agree w/ Ajax on
-the owners, AS MUCH AS I LIKE THERE EFFORT TO TURN US AROUND, should be ticked at themselves for not doing their own due diligence-
to that end they/we all will have to live with melrose's sour grapes until espn an everyone in the states realizes he's nothing more than an azz clown in a mullet that lost to a bilingual illiterate.
Posted by: hockeytalkie | December 12, 2008 at 08:15 PM
Ajax, it is an interesting idea to want to shake things up for the team. But bringing in Avery would spiral the Tampa Bay Lightning out of control. He is pure poison to a team right now, and if no AHL team wants him, why would tampa want him? We don't need the extra media attention...as they said on CBC yesterday, Tampa is one of most talked about teams in the league this year and it has nothing to do with their spot in the standings.
Posted by: mike p | December 12, 2008 at 06:25 PM
Ajax,
Please never use Avery and the Lightning in the same sentence again.
Posted by: Patrick | December 12, 2008 at 06:19 PM
I am going over and over this Avery thing. Make him sign an addendum to his contract. Call Dallas and tell them we will take him for Roberts, Gratton and Lundin. No doubt this guy could help our club, any club, but the reins would have to be very tight. With the spectacular headlines Hollywood and Co. have already made, this would for sure be headline news (and it wouldn't be complimentary) Ya ever invite the devil to dinner??
Posted by: ajax | December 12, 2008 at 06:15 PM
Again signs of knowing what they are doing. My Halloween wish list was Lundin, Gratton and Roberts. I am 110% sure the only reason Roberts isn't on waivers is they have to pay him 100% regardless where he is because his age. Lundin is not 21. He is 24 and just could not hang at this level. Why it took so long is the real question. Gratton has no heart(same thing I said about him last year. I like the shaping of the roster and getting people here that physically can play. Time will tell. Read where the Cowboys might sue Melrose for breech of contract. My only opinion on that is simple. Melrose was a Hollywood boy and they should of known he was unprepared. Sure they should of been dissappointed in Melrose, but responsibility usually starts in the mirror. I wonder how many interviews they had with Melrose to find out what he was thinking in June. How many other coaches were interviewed?? Melrose is a putz but the owners, AS MUCH AS I LIKE THERE EFFORT TO TURN US AROUND, should be ticked at themselves for not doing their own due diligence before signing goldylocks.

Leo,
A more appropriate take would be that your dirty rag of a jersey/logo soiled the end of Lecavalier's stick - he'll have to burn that stick to remove that taint.
Posted by: Patrick | December 12, 2008 at 06:08 PM
you really think any of the millionaires on the other teams 29 team give a damn about the CH once the first puck has been dropped each night?
avery would be the guy to make a point of defiling another team's crest, be it the CH or the stink'n panthers.
Posted by: hockeytalkie | December 12, 2008 at 05:52 PM
Okay! I won't argue about Lundin. But is Malik any kind of answer?
Can't we just get a redo and get our D men back from all of ownership's crazy trades. How would like to be in goal with the current cast of 6? 4 suck and 2 don't belong on the first pairing.
Somebody please start www.firelawton.com
Posted by: hireup | December 12, 2008 at 05:49 PM
leo...u gotta chill man. I really don't think he speared the logo intentionally. The player, yes. V4 was PISSED. The guy loves that team, and you guys all love him and secretly wish you had him. That's why he was booed.
Posted by: mike p | December 12, 2008 at 05:28 PM
Oh, and good luck with your team, Chic.
I know you'll smack a few rosies off a few faces.
Peace.

He didn't "hit" Plecky, Chic; he SPEARED the CH logo.
Are you NOT offended???
Am I the only one here who has a sense of Sacredness?!
Chic! Not you too?!

Afternoon fellow posters,
Sorry if there are typos working with my lap top in the hotel. My team is at a tourney in Estero this weekend so lets hope the chic scores and scores often and takes her own advise.
I stayed awake long enuf to see msl score twice and v4 once. Dude I also saw Vinny hit the guy with his stick in the face off circle. Way to show them boys. Lets keep it going.
Olie sure showed them he could play. Mikey sorry to hear you got placed on waivers. Someone needs to fatten him up. lol Then send him back.
Do not know if I can catch saturdays game but I will try to use the sites my buds sent me. Got 1 game tonight, 2 tomorrow and 1 sunday. God I love hockey.
Go Bolts... Go get the sens...Wish my team luck..

NOW THIS TEAM HAS FINALLY DONE IT AND PUSHED ME OVERBOARD.MIKE LUNDIN IS AN AWESOME PLAYER. I ALREADY TOLD HIM LAST SEASON THAT HE NEEDS TO BE A LITTLE MORE GRITTY AND NOT TO BE PUSHED AROUND. I THINK TIME IN THE AHL WILL BE BEST FOR HIM FOR AWHILE. HE NEEDS TO PLAY
Posted by: Vickie | December 12, 2008 at 05:01 PM
...sorry for ML, he has shown some grit and stability, but he is just not a bigger tougher type d man that we need. Sorry I disagree CC, the cowboy's may be the cowboy's but they are trying to put the best team possible with what they have to work with for us the BOLT fan's. I disagree with alot of their previous move's, but they are doing more than PSE. Give these guy's a chance, they might just show us something...
Posted by: olin | December 12, 2008 at 04:09 PM
Good! No offense to Lundin, but he needs to get stronger in the minors. He'll sneak through waivers if Gratton cleared.
Posted by: McGz | December 12, 2008 at 03:48 PM
Didn't Brian Burke say he was going to freeze the roster in Toronto until after christmas so the players could enjoy the holidays? Once again ownership shows NO CLASS
Posted by: boltcc | December 12, 2008 at 03:40 PM
About time, no offense to Lundin, but he's not an NHL defenseman at this point. The previous administration screwed up his development by not giving him more time in the AHL, so now he has to clear waivers. There seem to be a lot of teams desperate for defense so I would't be shocked if he gets claimed. Dallas is playing several of our retreads that Lundin started in front of (Hutchinson, Jancevski, Janik).
Posted by: Steve | December 12, 2008 at 02:39 PM
WHAT??? he plays so much better than Malik, why because he is not an investor in Bear Mountain? (Malik is)
Posted by: Hockey1stLove | December 12, 2008 at 02:30 PM
Its unfortunate but Lundin is probably an AHL player who can be called up for injury type situations.
Good luck Lundin hopefully you will stay in the Bolts system and go to Norfolk.
