Heroes promo offers details on season three!
Sometimes it seems the network TV industry is actively trying to kill itself.
What fuels my frustration this week is the increasing realization that the networks likely won't provide advance screening copies of many highly-anticipated new shows before the deadlines for our fall TV preview sections. This means we'll have a tough time telling readers about the shows at a time when network TV is trying to regain the nation's attention after nine months of mostly reruns, reality shows and castoff series.
Of course, the nets might be hoping we don't see the shows -- as a way of ensuring bad buzz doesn't spread until the shows are already on air. Which is a wonderful vote of confidence in the already-muted fall season wer'e facing.
Anyways, all that explains why my fanboy senses perked up when I heard about the latest Heroes promo on air, offerng a look at some new characters -- Hiro tussels with a superfast girl who can match his powers! -- and a tale of how Claire's dad may be a hero who locked up bad-guy metahumans for years (told you I was a fanboy!) Heroes can use the attention -- it returns this fall after more than NINE MONTHS off the air due to the writers' strike.

I've been a big Heroes fan since the beginning, but the layoff had made me pretty much forget it about it. G4 recently ran a marathon of season 2 and I watched the whole thing straight through. I forgot how slow the early season episodes were. It took about 5 episodes until the season got moving along, but then it really got going. I'm hoping they don't move as slowly this year and get right into the action.

Gotcha. Maybe I should start watching it - it looks very similar to The 4400 which I enjoyed a lot, until it disappeared. :-(
Thanks for the reply.

Well, everyone in the industry knows tat Heroes truncated its season last year due to the writers' strike, and I think people conected with the show admit that it resulted in a disappointing season.
Every returning show is faced wth he challenge of re-engaging viewers, and there are few shows coming back this fall that have a challenge big as Heroes -- which has been off the air more than NINE MONTHS...

Eric, I don't watch Heroes at all, but saw a promo for it last night during the Olympics (not the one linked to here). The voice over made some reference to "if you were disappointed last season this season will blow you away" or some such hype. It struck me as odd that they were acknowledging that last season was crap, but "give us another chance"...interesting marketing approach.
