Bubba the Love Sponge joins Hulk Hogan on show
Some time ago, local shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge Clem told me about a possible job he was dying to get: serving as the announcer for pal Hulk Hogan's new NBC show American Gladiators.
Well, that gig never materialized. But it seems Clem and the Hulkster never gave up on their dream, announcing Tuesday that the shock jock will act as announcer and play-by-play man for Hogan's new show for CMT, Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling.
Besides uniting two powerful brands appealing to young men, the show offers a chance for Clem and Hogan to turn their friendship into a profitable enterprise (Hogan was in Clem's wedding party last year and Clem has been supportive of the former wrestler during his painfully public divorce).
From what I hear, the episodes have already been recorded, and Clem is climbing into a sound booth in Tampa for a hour or so after his afternoon satellite radio show ends each day, recording sounds for a few episodes at a time. The CMT show is scheduled to debut Oct. 18 with a cast including ex-Partridge Family star and frequent Clem guest Danny Bonaduce; former NBA star and Celebrity Mole: Yucatan champ Dennis Rodman; former Saved by the Bell actor Celebrity Fit Club participant Dustin "Screech" Diamond and former Diff'rent Strokes actor Todd Bridges.
Over the course of eight episodes, the 10 participants are divided into teams of two and compete for the top title. With two of Florida's biggest working-class heroes involved, expects things to get real bizarre in a real hurry...

RADIO STAR BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE® TO BE ANNOUNCER FOR NEW REALITY TV SHOW, HULK HOGAN’S CELEBRITY CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TAMPA, FLORIDA –September 9, 2008 –
Radio star Bubba the Love Sponge® will be the voice of Hulk Hogan’s new reality television competition program, Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling, when it debuts on the CMT cable TV channel later this fall.
Bubba will be the show’s announcer and provide play-by-play for the program that stars professional wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, and which will feature ten celebrities being trained to become professional wrestlers, Hogan is one of the World Wrestling Entertainment’s biggest stars and was the subject of the VH1 TV series Hogan Knows Best, which ran for four seasons.
He has developed Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling with former World Championship Wrestling executive Eric Bischoff and producer Jason Hervey.
Hogan, a close friend of Bubba’s who served as best man for Bubba’s 2007 wedding to Heather Cole, is a frequent guest on Bubba’s Sirius Satellite Radio and terrestrial radio programs. Bubba was recently interviewed on CNN Headline News’ Showbiz Tonight and E! True Hollywood Story programs about Hogan, and has previously been quoted in People magazine and other outlets regarding his friend.
Hogan said, “Bubba has been one of my closest friends for well over ten years, and has dabbled in the wrestling biz with me for about as long. When asked if I had anyone in mind to be the announcer, my eyes lit up and I yelled out loud, ‘BUBBA!’”
“I am so honored to be a part of this project,” said Bubba. “With wrestling legends like Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff heading it, Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling is sure to be something that all of America will want to see, and to be a part of it is a dream come true for me.”
After almost 20 years of dominating terrestrial radio, Bubba the Love Sponge® (his legal and trademarked name) was recruited by Howard Stern to host a national, uncensored, weekday afternoon talk show on Sirius Satellite Radio that launched in January 2006 that has become one of satellite radio’s most popular programs.
Since January, Bubba has also been hosting the top-rated live morning program on radio stations WHPT-FM/Tampa, FL and WFYV-FM/Jacksonville, FL - making him the first in the industry to host two separate, full-length, live daily radio programs on both satellite and terrestrial radio. Both are broadcast from Bubba’s own custom-built, multimedia studio in Tampa, Florida, which is regularly visited by stars from the worlds of sports, comedy, music, TV and adult film/video.
In July, the new Bubba Raw® DVDs were released by IVD/International Video Distributors, featuring uncut and uncensored behind-the-scenes video footage culled from thousands of hours of Bubba the Love Sponge® Show antics.

Answering that one guys question...since I have access to the Internet...Love Sponge is an Urban term that you can google search... For everyone hating this show and other's like it, (mainly shock jock radio shows and pro-wrestling), I'm just curious to know what you guys watch, you Full House superfans or something? Saved by the Bell? Sesame Street maybe? Maybe even as edgy as Family Matters or Fresh Prince?

I don't know who are the biggest idiots these two guys or the ones that would listen to them and make them rich. So the Hulk loses his reality show, is getting a divorce, and has now stooped to radio, my have the mighty fallen. Trash is Trash when's garbage pick up day?

Great to reasons for the Tampa/Clearwater area to be embarrassed.

Bubba is not the first in the industry to host 2 separate shows on satellite and terrestrial radio. Ron & Fez have been on XM Satellite Radio since 2005 and in December of 2006 they started doing an evening show on an FM talk station in NY, that was not a simulcast or rebroadcast of their daily XM show. That continued until May 2007 when the FM talk station switched formats to all rock.
Ron & Fez noon-3 XM 202, DirecTV 879.

Two has-been's trying to hang on to their yeteryears. Yes there will be tabloid fans that will tune in, but Contrived reality shows, The Hulk, The Sponge and professional wrestling are beyond played out. The only thing more pathetic, will be the "D" list celebs that will appear on this show out of career desparation.

You fools!!! BTLS is the most entertaining radio personality ever and it's blue-hairs like the ones complaining on this blog that prevent progressive media like BTLS from providing top-knotch entertainment.
If you don't like it, don't listen.

ROTFLMAO! All of America will want to see that?! HAHAHAHA! What a loser.

I remember Nancy stumbling into the pub on 4th street. She was a class act.

I agree that Bubba is the WORST DJ ever. He puts things out there that he doesn't have a clue about. I can't believe someone would even put him in the same category as Nancy Alexander. She's great. Hulk needs to pick his friends more closely

What is a love sponge ? I need to put that in my dictionary

If Bubba has anything to do with the show it won't be long until there are "strippers" and ho's on it.

It's amazing how a bunch of crap can make money this story reminds of the other story about human waste being used to produce energy, maybe with this show they'll be able to solve the world's energy problems!

Love him or hate him, you gotta give respects to the man. This guy can fall into Pig Pen and come out smelling like roses.. Oh, I guess he already did.. Ah the good ol' Power Pig days...

Joe..YOU ARE A TOTAL IDIOT!! I can maybe understand your problem with Hulk or even Bubba, but WHY THE ATTACK ON NANCY ALEXANDER. I am SURE that you have never made a mistake in your whole life MR PERFECT ! Getting a DUI does not mean you are a drunk. I guess since you have drank before I should call you a drunk. Get a life!!

Barf! Thanks for the warning so we have yet another reason not to watch that 'junk'!!

Bubba is singularly the worst person ever to host a radio show. Well, him and MJ are the two worst. Wait, Nancy Alexander the drunk is another..
Ok, he is one of the THREE most annoying and worst hosts of a radio show.
Posted by: Joe | September 10, 2008 at 11:27 AM
Well all your need is Sheriff Coats and you have a show.
