Channel 10's new weather chief makes sexy splash leaving Chicago
TV stations in big markets are notorious for using sexy female talent to deliver weather forecasts in the morning.
Still, images of Chicago forecaster Tammie Souza's last day at Fox's WFLD -- she's coming to Tampa to serve as chief meteorologist at WTSP-Ch. 10 -- show she may have amped up her sex appeal a bit for her final day on the morning shift in the Windy City.
The images come courtesy of a site called TV Anchor Babes, which said they were taken from Souza's last day on air last week in Chicago.
Which, if true, raises another joking question: What kind of forecasts will we be getting when she arrives here in the Tampa Bay area? When WTSP announced her hiring a few weeks ago, I theorized they were targeting female viewers, but perhaps male fans will come along, too (rim shot).
We'll find out Oct. 27, when she comes to WTSP.
To check out a more conventional sample of her forecasting work, check out the video below:

The Feed is a blog on TV, media and modern life by St. Petersburg Times TV/media critic Eric Deggans. Possibly the most critical guy at the Times, he has served as music, media and TV critic at various times over 10 years.
E-mail Eric Deggans:

The weather in this area is serious stuff because we have life threatening weather situation. Why Channel 10 gave up Randy Rauch and Anna Allen is
beyond me. This new lady Tammie Souzie is rediculous and isn't even
good looking. What's going on over
there with their poor judgment. I'll
keep watching Paul Delgado on Fox
for my weather.

Jan, Tammie's friend and ancor of the 5 hour -yes, five hours!- morning show, bought her the outfit as a going away gift and asked her to try it on because she wouldnt be there for Tammie's last day -she wore the outfit the day before her last day, not on her last day at Fox News in Chicago. And, being a good sport and a good friend to Jan, Tammie obliged. It was all in good fun and, I guess, it helped fill the 5 hours of air time they needed to fill each morning. There was nothing more or less to it. So there :|~

What is this crap called 10 connects? Are you kidding? Now they have changed their name. Did WTSP-TV do this recently with Tampa Bays 10? Someone please help me understand.
The reason I bring this up, this explains the changes in weather. Getting rid of Randy & Anna is just crazy. Things must be real bad at this station. You don't change a name to something like "10 connects" unless you are in trouble. I don't see the station in first place changing their name. Hummmmm...maybe that is why they are in first place or at least part of the reason.
This meteorologist in Chicago is just what 10 connects needs. It will give the few viewers 10 connects has to re-connect to another station.
Bye channel 10...oh I'm sorry. Connect 10.
Tammie has a sister who is also Meteorologist, Patty Souza.
Patty is on KCRA Sacramento. She was formerly in Orlando's WFTV.
For Tammie trivia, she was Miss Ramona in 1979.
Tammie's Sister Patty is on WTSP's sister station KXTV in Sacramento. She was the morning weather anchor for KCRA from January 2002 to Feburary 2006 when she replaced Elissa Lynn from KXTV in April of that year who is now working with the Sacramento Dept. of Water and resources. Ironically Patty is the Chief Weather anchor for News 10 at 5, 6 and 11 PM.

I have since talked with Tammie Souza -- the pictures were not faked. Otherwise,I would have modified the blog post long ago...

"The images come courtesy of a site called TV Anchor Babes, which said they were taken from Souza's last day on air last week in Chicago."
I think you should verify this picture before posting. A blog-type entry doesn't carry any weight.
It is clear, from the shots posted, that they were taken in the studio, never on the air. Probably taken from a walk through. The green screen and angles were instant tip-offs.

Nothing can beat channel 13- FOX13
I believe here website had like a couple of million hits during the last big approaching hurricane:
http://media.myfoxtampabay.com/myfoxhurricane/
Also, if you want hot news anchors check out number 1 rated cable news: FOXNEWS.
I think they run 24 hours hot anchors.

Ch 10 is changing their name AGAIN, next week, to 10 Connects.
i don't care if they put a naked chick on air, their news product is terrible! what is with the IMs during news?? the messages they get and read are beyond lame. painful to watch. rather than admit they are the worst in market and put efforts into changing the product, they change the name. oh yeah.. that'll work. didn't work out too good a few years ago when they changed name to tampa bays 10.

This is just another example how management at TV 10 is lost. They have been this way since News Director Richards has gotten to this market. He took a Greensboro station from number 1 to number 4 and has done the same thing in Tampa at channel 10 in his time at WTSP.
Yes weather can have fun. But wearing shorts in front of the maps in Chicago is as crazy a Reggie wearing a tank top at the newsset. He just does not do that. He is to professional for such a presentation. She has issues in terms of her level of presentation. Does anyone remember the news anchor in Key West? I don't want to be to critical but there is a level of professionalism to maintain. She wanted everyone in the windy city to check her out before she left. Remember..she was at a station that was not even on the radar in that area. People were watching channel 7 or channel 5...not WFLD.
Good luck channel 10. I will be watching the other stations. You have lost your way.

with all that's going on that is actually worth commenting about and this is drawing a ton of comments? And we wonder why the world is in the shape it's in...Who cares? Nobody...or a bunch of nobodies, apparently.
Posted by: Matthew Cox | October 01, 2008 at 11:23 PM
I wouldn't call her a babe... she must be pushing what??? 50... too old for shorts that short. I guess Tampa doesn't really know how to even find a good looker.

If you want a good combination of smarts and attractiveness, watch Jennifer Hill on WFLA. God, Bill Ratliff is so lucky with her, Gayle, and the traffic reporter.

I worked on a focus group that helped the GM of channel 10 make this decision on who they hired for this job. The tapes I saw of tammi were great. Funny woman who is entertaining on camera.

More proof its a mans world, thank the good lord. Good weather pretty women is there more to life? Who better to tell you the cane will be here in twenty minutes and you forgot to evacuate. Some old dude won't get your attention. Neither would a youngun, but a half dressed good looking female at least there is a shot.
Posted by: rover | October 01, 2008 at 06:08 PM
Who are ya going to watch when the big CAT 4 rolls towards the bay??
tammie hot legs??
Posted by: | October 01, 2008 at 05:50 PM
To those who made comments about Tampa Bay having a lot of ugly women on local TV - guess what? That's true, but there are just as many, if not more, ugly men, young and old, too.
Posted by: Mary | October 01, 2008 at 04:56 PM
Fox 13 traffic in the morning, Jennifer Epstein. That is all that needs to be said.
Posted by: Fred | October 01, 2008 at 04:44 PM
so this is why you fired all the "good" channel 10 anchors and meterologist...you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!

So? They all get their news from the same place anyway - The New York Times. Look at the CBS Evening News and you'd think it was the Elite Models catalog.
Posted by: tim | October 01, 2008 at 02:38 PM
Let's see...she's beautiful and intelligent...where is the problem?
Posted by: Chip | October 01, 2008 at 02:14 PM
As I've said before, she'll be here two years and either get fired or will move to a bigger market.
Look at the staying power Dick Fletcher had. He was professional and dedicated. People like that and this woman doesn't have either quality.

Whew, the temperature is rising, along with ...........
Posted by: mike | October 01, 2008 at 02:02 PM
Perhaps Jennifer Howe should have dressed like that. She may still have a job.
I forsee Katheryn Burch being the next one to be shown the door. Her "reporting" is lackluster and has been for many years.
Bets anyone?

i wish tv would bring back dr paul berer, and creature feature,he could do the weather
Posted by: paul | October 01, 2008 at 01:27 PM
Who cares that she is wearing shorts? She (or any of the male newscasters) could be part of the "Nude news" for as much as I care. As long as they give accurate information.
Posted by: TT | October 01, 2008 at 12:55 PM
Maybe she sings too!! When I moved here in the mid 60s Ch. 10 had a singing weathergirl. As Lindsey Buckingham says, "Murrow turning over in his grave."
Posted by: Bob | October 01, 2008 at 12:46 PM
Tammy Souza should take the Bay Area by storm. She will now have to learn the hurricane and thunderstorm methodology. Hopefully, she can accomplish the transition without bringing us a Chicage snow job.

oh, btw, dominica davis will get me to watch the weather.

>>>Good, Tampa has some ugly old women on TV.<<<
ain't that the truth!
at least someone at wtsp is getting the idea of how to get men to watch local tv.
Posted by: joe hillman | October 01, 2008 at 11:32 AM
I've been a viewer of the Fox Chicago Morning news for a long time. Tammy didn't "amp up" anything on her last day. She frequently dresses that sexy. The show is in the basement of the ratings, and it would not shock anyone to know that Fox Chicago management has encouraged her to not look too conservative on the air in the hopes of gaining more male viewership.
This whole story is ridiculous and based on the notion that an attractive woman can't possibly be intelligent.
Please.
We will miss her in Chicago, you will love her in Tampa/St. Pete.

A woman of the "NIGHT"?
Posted by: Johnny | October 01, 2008 at 11:26 AM
Oh boo hoo hoo! A babe who's not hard to look at is going to do the weather on Channel 10. But what about all the qualified non-babes out there who wannabe?? Hey, live with it. I want to be an astronaut, too. ROFLOL
I'm learning Spanish so that I can watch Univision and Telemundo 24-7. Now those are BABES.
Posted by: MEM | October 01, 2008 at 11:16 AM
Amazing how people will comment before knowing the entire story... I'm sure that most of the posters don't watch Ch. 10 anyways, but might tune it in now at least onnce! Bunch of Jealous Haters postin'..
Posted by: Jason A. | October 01, 2008 at 11:00 AM
"TV Anchor Babes"? Oh, boy, life is good. And speaking of babes, I make sure never to miss morning traffic on Fox-13
Posted by: Bob Clark | October 01, 2008 at 10:59 AM
Hurricane coming towards us and I am going to watch her??
I would watch Paul Dell at FOX13 wearing saran wrap before I would watch her.
Posted by: donewith10 | October 01, 2008 at 10:43 AM
I guess WTSP stands for Weather That Sucks Period. CH 10 will soon be the Naked News Channel. I bet Dick Fletcher is rolling in is grave.
Posted by: Noaa Man | October 01, 2008 at 10:31 AM
Best weather gal? Try channel 7, Telemundo in the morning. Whew! The weather has never been the same for me. Caliente!
Posted by: ricardo | October 01, 2008 at 10:15 AM
We do not know the context. She may have announced that she was going to Florida where they wear shorts all year. Remember Chris Thomas had fun with sport but could be serious too. Do not judge.
Posted by: James | October 01, 2008 at 09:51 AM
Good, Tampa has some ugly old women on TV.
Posted by: Jay | October 01, 2008 at 09:49 AM
Come on! Do some reporting. There is no way these pictures are real (And if you show they are, you have a much better story).
Posted by: Brendan | October 01, 2008 at 09:41 AM
i'd watch everyday is she wore a thong
Posted by: | October 01, 2008 at 09:10 AM
Lighten up people. Life is too short to freak about this!
Posted by: chuck | October 01, 2008 at 09:08 AM
In case you are wondering the post above isn't from Tammie. I just thought using her name would get all of your atention quicker. See how the power of the press works :-(
Posted by: Not the Real Tammie | October 01, 2008 at 08:54 AM
Oh my goodness.
How the press twists things around. Just to set the record straight....As a going away gift the female anchor of the show gave her a Bears T-Shirt, a Cubs hat and a pair of Pink White Sox shorts. She dared Tammie to wear them at the end of the 5 hour show and she did that as a funny stint. If you watch the video you will hear how uncomfortable she was and she makes fun of it. At least Tammie has a sense of humor about herself.
Her weather forecasts are very professional, her credentials are solid. She doesn't dress or act like a bimbo. So, no she didn't set women or anyone else back. By the way she will be on Monday-Friday nights, not mornings. Hope you will appreciate her accuracy and yes, sense of humor that made her a hit in Chicago. If you don't want to watch her or are pre-judging then it's your loss.
Makes me wonder what station in Tampa dug up the video of her last day, fed it to the Feed and tried to twist it around. Hmmmmmmm happens all the time in this business. Thought Tampa would have been a friendlier town.
Posted by: Tammie Souza | October 01, 2008 at 08:50 AM
So where are the skantily clad men meteorologists? Aren't there enough strip joints for men in the Tampa Bay area that we don't have to watch a stripper wannabe on our community news channel? Thanks for the warning, I'll make sure NOT to tune in to Channel 10 from now on. This kind of thing has set back sexism 40 years!
Posted by: Daisy | October 01, 2008 at 08:30 AM
and she is going to compete with paul delegato? try again ch 10!
Posted by: huh? | October 01, 2008 at 08:29 AM
We still have a Channel 10?
Posted by: Jason A. | October 01, 2008 at 08:20 AM
as mike royko once wrote about tv news, "if i want to see ugly i'll look in the mirror."
the only reason -- i mean the only reason -- i watch local tv news is to gawk at the chicks.
that said, please let tammie fields have the channel 10 weekend anchor chair. please!
Posted by: joe hillman | October 01, 2008 at 08:17 AM
Mel, who cares about unprofessionality? Lighten up! Life is too short. You obviously are the type who takes things WAY too seriously. I say we don't see enough of this...
