Celebrity Rehab 2: More guilty pleasures, or something worse?
I wrote on Saturday about how VH1's new season of Celebrity Rehab might be TV's guiltiest pleasure this year, but this clip from tomorrow's debut episode shows there's a lot more guilt than pleasure so far.
Eventually, host Dr. Drew Pinsky will conclude that Busey's brain injuries from a 1988 motorcycle accident have damaged his ability to control impulses (which may explain his roles in Dr. Doolittle 3 and Shut Up and Shoot). Busey comes in thinking he'll be Yoda to Pinskly's band of recovering notables, but it quickly becomes obvious he needs as much help as anyone there.
Along with renowned nutjob actor Busey, Pinsky's Rehab cast includes former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler, perpetual celeb rehabber Jeff Conaway, former Whitesnake video vixen Tawny Kitaen, walking civics lesson Rodney King, American Idol burnout Nikki McKibbin, model Amber Smith and singer Rod Stewart’s son Sean. It all kicks off at 10 p.m. Thursday on VH1. At least Pinsky admitted on the Today show this morning that rehabbing might be the third-highest motivation for his "guests," behind getting on TV and getting paid.
Two lessons here: rehabbing addicts are serious drama queens, and Pinsky didn’t need a neurosurgeon to prove what fans already knew – that Busey seems to be suffering some serious dain bramage.
