Ebony magazine says I'm an influential black American

Logo_power150 I have to think I snuck in the back door, somehow.

But now that my pal Richard Prince reported on this yesterday, I can reveal what I learned last week: That Ebony magazine has named me among its "Power 150" -- 150 black Americans who they say are the most influential right now.

My instinct is to follow with a joke about how they must have mistakenly read my name off the reject list -- but friends tell me I can be too modest, so I'm going to enjoy being included on a list that also features Oprah Winfrey, CNN commentator Roland Martin, PBS host Gwen Ifill and comic Steve Harvey.

Yeah, I know. Waay outta my league.

Issue hits stands April 14. Believe me, I will have lots of extra copies around Casa De Deggans.

Believe me, Martin, everybody makes that mistake. The sentiment is still incredibly appreciated....

Or better still, and Eric Deggans!

Lots of people have Ebony's Barack Obama commemorative edition. But how many people have an Eric Deggins?

Not surprising, and well-deserved. You have obviously made a commitment to diversity issues in the media and are gaining recognition for that.

In addition to the hundreds of copies of the mag in your home, are you changing your business card to read:
