Moms and moms-to-be can get break from the heat at this Sunday's Smart Baby Expo at the Quorum Hotel Westshore in Tampa.
The expo, which is held in cities nationwide, features baby products and parenting resources, many of them local. Onsite ultrasounds will be available for $40. The exhibitor list looks pretty big, but keep in mind there's a $10 admission charge at the door ($8 online), so plan to stay for a while. Kids under 12 are free.
Author Renee Rayles, left, will be on hand signing her new book, The Super, Sexy, Single Mom on a Budget. She's a 33-year-old single mom who lives in Atlanta with her 11-year-old son. Go Momma spoke with her as she was packing for her trip. Click here for the interview and her tips for being super, sexy and single.
The expo runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Quorum Hotel, 700 N West Shore Blvd.

"Let her be sweet because I believe beauty is as beauty does. My hope is that she is sweet and kind because no matter how beautiful you are, ugly ain't cute."

Ladies, Saturday is Valentine's Day. It's the one holiday that doesn't induce
panic because, let's face it, we Mommas get off pretty easily. Buy a dozen cupcakes and a pack of Jonas Brothers valentines, and your kid is set at school. Now you can kick back and wait for the man in your life to shower you with roses and chocolates.
But do your hips really need another Whitman's Sampler? More importantly, does your love life? This year, some Mommas are opting to give a gift that benefits their hubby or boyfriend -- and let's face it, themselves: boudoir photography.
The CliffsNotes version is this: You get dolled up in lingerie, heels, perfect hair and flawless makeup. A professional, non-skanky photographer captures you on film. You present the pics to your man for V-Day. He goes ga-ga, reminded of your pre-baby hotness. Canoodling ensues.
Everybody wins.
What do you think, Mommas? Would you bare (nearly) all to rekindle the passion this Valentine's Day? Would your guy even appreciate such a gift? There's still time to schedule a photo shoot, if you dare.

Actress Traci Lords had a long career in the porno biz and has
since tried to move on starring in mainstream movies and on television. But she goes back to her roots -- sort of -- in the new comedy, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, which Times film reviewer Steve Persall gives an A.
Lords, who is a mom of a 1 year old, talked with the Miami Herald about taking her then newborn to the set while filming and why she might need a pinch to make sure she isn't dreaming as she finds success (she is filming another movie) at 40. Her comments prove that through it all, we Mommas really do have a lot in common -- without the porno past!
On convincing director Kevin Smith that she could not do topless shots: "I told Kevin, I'm lactating. I REALLY can't go there."
On bringing her then 2-month old son Gunnar to the set:
"There was me, glittery Mommy, walking around pushing the carriage in stilettos. There was no sleep involved. I was a walking zombie and all barfed on; I had that Mommy mushy brain."
On the two perks of being a new mother: "My breasts were truly magnificent. I was like, 'Can I keep these?'"
On not believing all this can happen to a former under-age porn star: "It's so funny that now I'm a mom that all these doors are opening. I don't believe you can have it all — you'd be lucky to have little bits of everything."

Academy Award winning actor Halle Berry has been named Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive for 2008. Of the honor, Berry wrote in an article on Esquire's Web site, "Well, I don't know exactly what it means but being 42 and having just had a baby, I think I'll take it."
Berry is the mother of 7-month-old Nahla Ariela Aubry, whose father, model Gabriel Aubry, had this to say about the hot Momma: "I mean, look at her -- she is unbelievable! She is the best mom that anybody could ask for -- or wish for!"
He added that the two are working on having more kids. Judging from Nahla, that baby could be the most beautiful sibling ever (sorry Knox and Vivienne).

Confession: I want to be a hot mom! Forget dowdy hair, frumpy clothes or goodness forbid, Crocs! For me, sassy shoes are a staple of any good wardrobe. And because I’m 5’3”, that means heels, heels, heels! The better to see you, my dear.
Well into the ninth month of my pregnancy, I tried to maintain my status as a fashionista. My daughter was born in February, so as the weather chilled, that meant classic high-heeled boots under my slacks and dresses. Church? Break out the pointy-toed pumps. On days when warm weather reigned, I rocked peep-toe wedges.
(Check out Gillian Anderson, of "X-Files" fame, as she arrives for a chat on the "Late Show With David Letterman". She's not letting pregnancy get in the way of some fabulous kicks.)
Older and wiser women than I shook their heads as I waddled along. My contemporaries gave me cool girl props. I vowed to wear heels to the finish line. And I did.
But something happened after the baby was born. I shuffled around the house in flip flops for the first few months of her life. When we ventured out, tennis shoes or ballet flats were the footwear du jour. They still are when we head out for fun and play.
But in the workplace, a girl’s gotta keep up her standards. And, as of today, I’m back! I’ve got two brand new pair of sassy black pumps. They are classy, professional and, because I used a $10-off coupon at DSW, a guilt-free splurge!
Of course, even before my latest purchase I’d been chastened by my daughter’s babysitter to don flats when I climb the stairs to her home daycare. No problem. That’s the responsible thing to do. My heels will wait in the car, representing a little part of my identity that refuses to be eclipsed by being a mom.

Sharon Kennedy Wynne has sunscreen in her blood. She may have been born in Buffalo but she got here as fast as she could, in time for kindergarten. She grew up in St. Petersburg, graduated from the University of Florida journalism school, and even got married at Sunken Gardens. She's one of the few adults we know who actually loves taking her kids to the beach. She has two sons and with 10 years of parenting under her belt, she's starting to feel a little less out of her league. She comes from a large family and loves to debate, so brace yourself when the hot topics come up.

Amy Hollyfield is a workaholic mother of two young
daughters, blessed to have a work-at-home husband who makes their life possible. She was born in Detroit and moved around a lot as a kid (read: Air Force brat). She has lived in Florida since the month after she
graduated from Northwestern University. She lives for the yelps, hugs and kisses that greet her on nights that she makes it home before bedtime.

Sherry Robinson was born in the Sunshine State but she feels more comfortable inside a mall than outside at the beach -- thank goodness her husband is the outdoorsy type. He takes their two sons on night hikes, beach runs and bug hunts while Sherry does her best to take care of the homestead -- and find out what is new on the store shelves. A graduate of the University of South Florida in 19noneofyourbusiness, Sherry has been at the Times for nearly 20 years. And with nearly 10 years of parenting experience, Sherry is eager to offer up some great dish on raising kids and keeping your sanity.
