Sean van der Wilt talks about Lou Pearlman

Seanvdw Aspiring young artist Sean van der Wilt discusses working with Lou Pearlman in a story in today's Times. He says Lou and Trans Continental spent about $600,000 to develop his career, but it wasn't spent effectively. "If that money was spent the right way, something amazing could have come out of it." Van der Wilt said he essentially managed himself because Pearlman was preoccupied with other things. He also says Lou called him after having fled the country and acted as though nothing was wrong. Van der Wilt is asking to be released from his contracts so he can be free to try to get a record deal with another company. Although currently working as a dancer, he still hopes for a breakthrough as a singer.

Singer Aaron Carter also filed documents in the bankruptcy court today to be released from his contracts. Here are two of those motions: Motion 1 Motion 2 . Other related documents are on the Pacer Web site.

HEY FRANKIE,
GET A SENSE OF HUMOR

Kim

To Jimmy or whatever your name is, I can assure you that I am not, Les, Donnie, Klaas or any other individual you may think. I am one and only one person, which I am sure Helen can vouch for. I do not need to use any other names for I obviously do not fear using my own. As for Frank Torelli, do I know you? Or how do you know who I am? Just curious!

Frank Torelli

Jimmy Breslin? Not! How about "Jakey Breslin" instead? ... still living!

Pursuant to the personal attacks and the allegations that Klaas, (learn to spell his name correctly) Les, and Kim are the same person, I can shed light on that. They are NOT the same person. I think I know who Kim is and I cannot vouch for Donald but I know Klaas and Les and they are definitely different people. As the individual on this site who uses his own name, I feel I am qualified to comment on this topic and dentify others, or at least vouch for their identity.

Kim

To Rob, that makes since if you include the living expenses. It was my understanding that the 600k was just for making the tracks and the promotion of Sean, which, I don't think LP really did too much of that. However, 3k a month in living expenses does add up. Thanks for clarifying that.

Rob

You guys are forgetting that 600K isn't just for making a record.

There is promoting the kid, flying him from gig to gig and there is the monthly paycheck to live/pay bills. It all adds up fast when you live in LA.

He almost hit it big in Germany and China, but Lou pissed it away. The kid is one of the hardest workers you'll ever meet, but you can only work so hard in the industry. You have to know people to open up doors. Lou was suppose to do that, but didn't.

7:39pm Aaron:

Is your last name Carter? If so what are your thoughts.

so the studio equipment had liens against it/them as well. there was a big joke about the skyship 500 blimps, that lou had borrowed against them, even after they had been sold/transferred to another interest. as the story goes, that's why nothing could be done with them. that plus the fact that they were incomplete or in one case hadn't flown since the 1980s. i'm not totally sure, but i do indeed feel that these blimp gondolas and "toolings" were sold sometime in the late 1990s. however, as this investigation continues, this too may prove to be more lp "ka-ka". stay tuned. CHEERS TO ALL!

Helen Huntley

The recording studio was at the other facility, not Church Street. There were plans to bring it over to Church Street, but that did not happen. My understanding is that the equipment all had liens on it from lenders, which is why it was not auctioned.

Kim

Thanks Helium Head! I am just going to ignore the ignorance of others who steep to name calling, no use in wasting my breath. I too found the facts about the studio/studios interesting. It amazes me how a man that could have had so much would waste what he did have and screw over so many people for what? Jail! Did he really think he was invincible?

helium head

oh yeah, and helen, thanks for the continued hard work. all the very best!

helium head

donnie, kim, toothy, aaron,
contrary to some other posts here, i found the dialogue on the status of the studio/studios interesting. looks like lp ran that into the ground just like his management style ran everything else into the crapper, from the blimps to,...well...everything else! JUST ANOTHER SHELL GAME AND SMOKE AND MIRRORS, with victims monies.
as for chevy chase's comment, belushi did and still does rock, but your quote was from dan akroid (sorry if spelling is wrong). so, does that make you (and me for my misspellings) ignorant ----s? please with any posts, get your facts straight! cheers to all, including chevy!

Helen,

Perhaps you would like to invite Sean on to this board and share his thoughts or answer questions.

Kudos for getting the interview. The other papers didn't get an interview with him or any other similarly affected artist like Aaron Carter.

Pearlman's unlimited agregious activity knew no bound. He preyed on everyone from the young and innocent aspiring artists to the elderly ladies planning to take care of themselves in their final years.

I wish he'd never set foot in Florida. How many people curse the day he was born?

Can we send him gifts in jail? How about a replica Phantom? Miniature. Smaller, useless versions of everything he bought with investor's money to live it up.

How about a poster for his jail wall? With lovely caligraphy? "I'm an ethical businessman who always tries to do the right thing."

Or a blowup of the last photo of him in freedom eating a big breakfast in Bali?

No, I know. Let's send him the key to the city of Orlando. Attach a note: use this to get out of jail.

Willie

Feggggggggedddddabbbbboudddditttt!!!!Let's get back to some serious issues. This kid and that money that was spent on him is like spitting in the ocean. Let's have some serious conversation. Anyone try to have a conversation with LP via phone at the prison (if he chooses to)

Donnie

Kim at one point they did have an amazing studio. State of the art everything, and it was the choice of many major artists.

Im not sure how much use it got when it was over at church street.

sos

no klass, lester, kimberly i think they are all one person angling for a movie roll. And Donald you may be another of these clever aliases. But im not sure yet??????

osama

chevy chase

kim "you ignorant -lut" Belushi rocks

Kim

So the studios weren't intact, I guess they were just more smoke and mirrors!

If you don't like the postings don't read them! Some people find them interesting and informative.

Can we please get a break from the Donnie and Kim show and get back to intelligent postings...from new people that are turned off by the current sideshows.

Aaron

The studio was not intact for some time.

toothy

When the feds seized Churh St was the recording studio intact? I don't recall it at the auction.

Yes, they had their own studio.

Kim

Again, just want to re-iterate that those numbers are ball park and can very depending on location and of course what each studio charges. I thought t-con had their own recording studio. Do you know if that is true?

Kim

Donnie, first I was not disputing you, just making a statement. As for the cost of making an album, that can vary. There are a few steps to that process. If an album was not created, as in Sean's case, then the only cost would be studio time. Studio's can range in price from $150 an hour to $500 (just a ball park estimate, not exact). In Sean's case there are 20 tracks laid but because I don't have any knowledge as to whether they are all vocal or if there are any instrumentals, I can't really say what the cost is other than the studio time. After tracks are laid then they need to be mixed and a master cd made. After that they find a manufacturer to make the albums and they can cost anywhere from $5 on depending on how many albums are made. I hope that answers your question.
