Bankcruptcy claim deadline is here
Your Trans Continental/Lou Pearlman bankruptcy claim form must be received by the clerk's office for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Middle District no later than Wednesday. That means if you haven't filed yet, you'd better deliver it in person or send it by overnight delivery. Here's a link to info.

St. Petersburg Times personal finance editor Helen Huntley writes about money topics and answers questions about financial planning, investments and personal income taxes.
With IRS tax time looming in the near future, I wonder if any of the folks defrauded by Pearlman have utilized the services of "Fraud Recovery Group, Inc.", of Columbus, OH? And if so, what was your experience? Would you recommend their services, and if so, why? Thanks, and happy tax time!

Good points Helen, though it is not looking good for any assets getting recovered unless someone knows something they aren't saying. The professionals will be after as much as possable, even though their efforts are suspect in terms of being mechanical vs. being effective. Without co-operation from state, feds, and bankruptcy, how can it be otherwise?
Hope we all get a nice surprise, but that's more like dreaming.

Hi John--It is very important to file using the court's form since those who do not file will be left out entirely. When/if there is money to distribute to creditors, I am sure there will be a legal battle over how different types of creditors will be treated. I hope that all creditors in the same circumstances (for example, all EISA investors)will end up being treated the same by the court regardless of whether they have individual lawyers.

I [WE] HAVE FILED WITH THE BANKRUPTCY COURT TWO TIMES. WE RECEIVE MANY NOTIFICATIONS OF RULINGS BUT HAVE NO MONEY FOR LEGAL COUNCILING, DOES THIS IN ANY WAY CHANGE THE CHANCES OF POSSIBLY GETTING ANY KIND OF SETTLEMENT IN ANY WAY.IT ALL SEEMS SO HOPELESS.ANY ANSWER FROM YOU WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED EITHER POSTED OR E MAILED TO US..JOHN AND NINA

That is possably true, however some are not legal savy and do not have lawyers, and are emotionally exhausted, therefore not thinking objectively.

If they haven't filed they don't want to try and get their money back.
