We'll have Snow at Gasparilla

Got this news release from the Gasparilla Film Festival folks. Looks like they're already leaps ahead of last year, when the guy who played Atilla the Hun in Night at the Museum was the festival's top "celebrity."

The Gasparilla Film Festival (Tampa Bay) is proud to announce that Ms. Brittany Snow has accepted an invitation to receive the Festival's 'Rising Star-Female' award at its Closing Night ceremonies slated for Sunday, March 2nd, 2008.

Ms. Snow, a Tampa native, is one of Hollywood's brightest rising stars, having featured in this summer's critically acclaimed movie, "Hairspray," alongside with John Travolta, Christopher Walken, and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Previously, she starred in the NBC series, "American Dreams," as well as having a recurring role on the long running daytime drama, "The Guiding Light," where she won Soap Opera Digest's 'Outstanding Child Actor' Award. Other film credits include "John Tucker Must Die" as well as the "The Pacifier," starring Vin Diesel.

Gasparilla Pageant To Benefit Locks Of Love


The 2nd Annual Gasparilla Pageant is right around the corner and organizers are encouraging early registration to ensure a spot! The event crowns the Titles of Miss Gasparilla, Miss Teen Gasparilla and Mrs. Gasparilla in gala fashion January 13th at the Westin Harbour Island, Tampa, 4:00 p.m.. A separate earlier portion of the event, 11:30 a.m., offers a bevy of impressive Titles for children and young men. This year’s Gasparilla Pageant features added optional categories of SuperModel, SpokesModel and Talent, for which separate prizes will be awarded. “Star Search model searches and reality television are driving these categories. They’re fun extras!” states Melinda Williams, Pageant Co-Director and founder of www.GasparillaPageant.com. The pageant has age divisions for everyone.


Gasparilla Pageant 2008 is a benefit for Locks of Love, a national charity whose mission is to provide custom-fitted hair for children who suffer from hair loss due to cancer treatments and other causes. Paul Mitchell Academy students will be on hand accepting hair donations and styling hair and makeup for Pageant contestants.

All contestants, win or lose, receive great prizes and an invitation to ride in the Children’s Parade.
