Misconceptions, a surrogate-birth comedy filmed in Pinellas County last January, has been selected for screening at the Montreal International Film Festival later this month.
Director Ron Satlof’s film is one of four American productions included in the festival’s Focus on World Cinema program, a non-competition showcase. Dates and times of the screenings will be finalized by August 15. In an e-mail Friday, production spokesperson Carol Matlock said the screenings are tentative;y scheduled for the weekend of August 22-24.
Misconceptions stars A.J. Cook (The Virgin Suicides, TV's Criminal Minds) as a devoutly religious woman believing God wants her to carry the child of a gay couple (Orlando Jones, David Moscow).

Steve Persall is the movie critic for the St. Petersburg Times. He was conceived behind a drive-in movie theater his father operated and raised in projection booths and concession stands. He doesn't care how you did it up north.
