Fan mail from some unfamous guy's flounder
Great e-mail from the sister of Flash of Genius director Marc Abraham, who didn't appreciate my opinion of his movie. My response follows:
Dear Mr. Persall:
Having skimmed the past 3 or so months of your movie reviews – it’s easy to see why you did not see the REEL story behind Flash of Genius. So many films you trashed that when I arrived at DARK KNIGHT – it made it easy for me to see what makes you tick.
Yes I am biased since this is my brother your are Slamming; so I am a bit uncomfortable with your description of FIZZLE. I suppose you are a BUSH man too.
In this BUSH disaster its nice to see that hard work, courage, values and ethics uphold the prongs on the Umbrella of INTEGRITY. Marc is SELF-MADE, CREATIVE, GENUINE, INTELLIGENT, and above all a GOOD MAN with the utmost of INTEGRITY!!—not a lot of people out there today have these qualities—in fact they can say and they can write …. but CAN THE DO IT ?
In closing I can thankfully say that the SPT- isn’t exactly world renown- and that is a good thing for us!
Respectfully submitted,
Debra

Dear Ms. Abraham:
I'm not sure how respectfully submitted your comments are, but I appreciate them.
Without revealing my political beliefs, I'll assure you I'm not a Bush man (with or without the needless capitalization).
It sounds as if you love Mr. Abraham, and if so I can also appreciate that.
However, I cannot appreciate his movie.
I can appreciate well-spelled and grammatically correct criticism, though.
Best,
Mr. Persall

Steve Persall is the movie critic for the St. Petersburg Times. He was conceived behind a drive-in movie theater his father operated and raised in projection booths and concession stands. He doesn't care how you did it up north.
