New American Fare Restaurant in South Tampa

RECOMMENDED READING

SOUTH TAMPA — Having worked together for years in the Tampa Bay area’s fine dining scene under James Beard Award-winning Chef Roy Yamaguchi, chefs Kiel Lombardo and Adam Hyatt know a thing or two about good food.

So they decided to open a restaurant together.

Located at 1809 W Platt St., the Platt Street Borough Bar & Eatery promises New American fare and custom cocktails, but Lombardo said the ambience will be inviting to the everyday diner.

"What we wanted to do is take all those great high standards and our knowledge we had at fine dining restaurants and make it into a casual, approachable neighborhood restaurant," Lombardo said.

"Still great quality food, all made in house, but a casual everyday spot where you can relax in shorts and flip flops or you can come dressed up on date night at nighttime."

Menu items include seared ahi tuna and shrimp and grains, and for brunch, Baked Eggs and the Bird, a glazed yeast donut with fried chicken, homemade pickles and maple hot-sauce butter.

The restaurant, located in the spot previously held by The Rack, partners with local businesses Jamison B. Bakery in Ybor for their bread and Rock Brothers Brewing Company and Mandarin Hide for their beer and cocktails program.

The 10 cocktails offered at the bar include The Borough-Vardier, the Fire Pit Margarita and the Cucumber Flower, which they pride themselves on hand-crafting in house.

In addition to their creative food and hand crafted cocktails, their fun environment sets them apart. They have an outdoor bocce ball court, darts and skee-ball for customers to enjoy.

Menu items are priced from $5 to $25, and craft cocktails range from $8 to $12.

The Platt Street Borough and Bar is open Tuesday through Sunday for dinner and brunch on the weekends: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4 to 10 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays 4 p.m. to midnight, Saturdays 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sundays 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Happy Hour runs Tuesday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m.

For more information contact the restaurant at (813) 605-0119 or visit plattstreetborough.com.
