Woman faces charges after slamming birthday cake on boyfriend’s head

A Dunedin woman who attempted to surprise her boyfriend with a cake on his birthday was arrested after she slammed it on his head, authorities said.

About 1 a.m. Nov. 2, Karina Mora-Noveco planned to surprise her boyfriend with a cake for his birthday, according to a report. But Robert Brown arrived late and said he had been out drinking, according to Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies.

The two began arguing as they went to bed, calling each other names. Mora-Noveco then decided to take the cake and, according to the report, slammed it on Brown’s head while he was trying to sleep. She was arrested on charges of battery and dating violence.

Police: Man used chips to hide spice joints

A man was arrested Oct. 27 after police said he tried to use potato chips to cover up spice joints.

At 7:52 p.m., 50-year-old Paul Roussey was sitting at a bus stop bench in the 800 block of 16th Street N when St. Petersburg police officers arrived. According to the report, Roussey dropped two spice joints on the ground and attempted to hide them by opening up a bag of Ruffles Sour Cream and Chives potato chips.

When an officer asked him to stand up, Roussey replied: "For what officer!" Each word, according to the report, was permeated with smoke.

Roussey was arrested on a charge of possessing illicit synthetic drugs.

Woman accused of stealing $200 of meat

A Largo woman was arrested after she took more than $200 worth of meat from a Walmart, police said.

About 10:45 a.m. Oct. 30, Lishai Jones, 18, entered the Walmart at 900 N Missouri Ave. and placed a large quantity of meat in a cart, according to Largo police. Jones then left through the store’s garden exit. Surveillance video and a witness identified Jones, who later admitted to taking the meat and having no intentions to pay for it, according to the report.

The meat, which totaled $204.09, was eventually recovered from her vehicle’s trunk. Jones was arrested on a petit theft charge.

Police seek man who stole $100 of meat

In other stolen meat news, authorities are looking for a man they say took off with about $100 worth of meat from a local grocery store.

On Oct. 24, at a Walmart Neighborhood Market, located at 1803 N Highland Ave., a man loaded a cart with meat and left the store without paying, Clearwater police said. They estimate he’s between 45 and 50 years old, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs about 210 pounds. He was seen wearing a white T-shirt with "BKLYN’ on the front.

He was seen leaving the parking lot in a 1990s-style black Cadillac DeVille. Authorities ask that anyone with information contact Clearwater police at (727) 562-4242, or send a tip via text using the TIP411 system by texting CWPD and their tip to 847411.
