Local 'Sports Kid of the Year' finalist eliminated

TAMPA PALMS -- Jordan Ramus' dreams of landing on the cover of Sports Illustrated Kids were dashed this week.

The child baseball phenom, who was profiled Sept. 22 in the St. Petersburg Times, didn't receive enough online votes to continue in his quest to become the magazine's 'Sports Kid of the Year.'

Despite this week's upset, Ramus can still practice posing for the camera. The Liberty Middle School sixth-grader, who turns 12 on Oct. 9, will be featured inside the December issue.
