Arts & Crafts under the Palms seeks vendors

The Tampa Palms Women's Club is taking applications for vendors for its annual fundraising event.

The craft show, which features crafters of all kinds of handmade items, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 and 18 at the City Plaza Shopping Center at Tampa Palms in the 16000 block of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.

• The Sixty Minutes exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through July 2 in the West Gallery at the Contemporary Art Museum. Sixty Minutes is a single channel video program designed to highlight and explore artists' practice and influences. It is conceived to expose the diversity and complexity of artists' process and provide an inspiring critical space to research, analyze and debate contexts for practice.

Great Frame Up first photography show kick off

An artists’ reception to kick off its first photography show is from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight (June 5) in the gallery at the Great Frame Up, 1646 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., Wesley Chapel. Wine and hor d’oeuvres will be served. The exhibit runs through June 30. Call (813) 949-8832.

Tickets available for 'The Butler Did It!' at the Carrollwood Cultural Center

Check out some of the New Tampa Players who are performing The Butler Did It! at the Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Road. Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday (April 3); at 2 p.m and 8 p.m. Saturday (April 4). Cost is $10 for members and $15 for non members. Tickets will be available the day of the show. The Butler Did It! is about Miss Maple, a woman noted for imaginative weekend parties. When she has a group of whodunit writers over they are to assume the personalities of their fictional characters.

Then a real murder takes place and the guests realize they're all marked for death.

Shhhh... It's a silent art auction

Artwork created by USF students and faculty members from the Master of Fine Arts Organization will be available by auction starting at 10 a.m. Friday (March 27) in FAH Room 288 at USF, 4202 E Fowler Ave.

Proceeds benefit a good cause. It will help the group's future endeavors including covering costs for fall exhibitions in Puerto Rico and Tallahassee.
 
The featured works are a variety of media including photography, prints, sculpture, music CDs, drawings and paintings. Artists include: Kim Adams, Wendy Babcox, Ariel Baron-Robbins, Neil Bender, Toni D. 'Bobby and the Chimps,' a play about love, faith and the politics of evolution, opens at USF

A new play about love, faith and the politics of evolution opens tonight on the Tampa campus of the University of South Florida. Bobby and the Chimps, produced under the auspices of the British International Theatre program, explores the concept of intelligent design — the belief that some systems found in nature could not have formed without the intervention of an unnamed designer — against the backdrop of a 2008 school board election in Bethlehem, Pa. See it in Theater II at 8 tonight through Saturday and March 4-7. Also, 3 p.m. Sunday and March 8. There will be a post-show talkback with the playwright and actors Friday (Feb. 27) and March 6.
