Reading with the Rays: Take me out to the Trop

Raymond_8 Take me out to the Trop!

It’s baseball season, so what better time to get to know your Tampa Bay Rays than now? Research the team’s players and find out their hometowns. On a map, mark where each player is from. How many states are represented by the team? How many countries? Diversity brings strength to a community. Click on the comments button below to discuss the ways that diversity brings strength to our Rays team.

I love the Rays mascot hes so fuzzy looking. =]

Hi Happy Feet,

Raymond is the mascot for the Rays. You can check out his bio at the following link: http://tampabay.rays.mlb.com/tb/fan_forum/raymond_bio.jsp

im not gonna lie the rays are so raw but whats up with the mascot i thought it was a sting ray or sumthing but its ok he still looks funny

AWWWW. I love this little mascot. I love him he's blue and fuzzy.

The Rays are going to be the next champions. Since they won 98 games this year there going to win over 100 next year in the season. James just needs to be strong and work on controlling the ball better, and CC just needs to come back. I went to the Rays rally yesturday. It was awesome to see Pena talk.

Hi Amelia,

Your child can bring his or her game card to any library in Pinellas or Hillsborough counties. The librarian will put a sticker on the card, and then you can take the card to the Tropicana Field box office, in St. Petersburg, to receive your tickets.

I have been told there is a limited number of tickets. The only date left is September 21.

Jodi

My son has finished his books, went to libtary, recieved his gifts, but can't find anyone who knows anything about the tickets- including the RAYS ticket office. Any one here know anything? My son has worked really hard and I would hate to let him down due to miscommunication. Thanks.

Hi Isabel,

Congratulations on reading 24 hours. What was your favorite book this summer?

I hope you enjoy seeing the Rays live at Tropicana Field.

Wow, the NIE staff loves to read about students loving to read! It was neat to see all those kids come out to see Rays player Cliff Floyd at the John Germany Public Library in Tampa to talk about reading, too.
