MAIN TOPIC
Don't adjust your computer monitors; you are reading this correctly! Episode #129 is up and ready to roll. Chip and Karina Jett are in town to play in the Pros vs. Joes tournament at One-Eyed Jacks so they stopped by the studio. Listen to the episode here.
We chat with them about balancing poker, marriage and a family, their business ventures (including JettPoker Inc. and the Pokers Most Wanted card deck), how they handle playing against each other and ... and you're not going to want to miss this ... our version of the Not-So Newlywed Game. You're gonna learn a lot about the Jetts.
OTHER TOPICS
Negreanus splitting up: Unfortunate timing, on a show when we have a very happy poker couple as our guests, but Kid Poker and his wife are splitting amicably.
Who signs with PokerStars? Yeah, that's right ... ex-tennis star Boris Becker, that's who.
Casino Player surprises us with good poker stuff: The general interest gambling magazine has never been really insightful on poker, but the November issue had three articles worth discussing: 1. Mad Genius Mike Caro suggests changing gears based on your chip stack, 2. Which is the better table image - rude and in your face or sweet as honey?, and 3. Classic Poker Cruises is now World Poker Tour Cruises.
Hotline: It's buzzing again, with calls about multitabling online and how to play heads-up at the end of a MTT.
Columbo's Revolving Mystery: It's solved with a raise just big enough to pot-commit our opponent. Unfortunately, the cards aren't in our favor, though.
HAND OF THE WEEK
The Jetts stick around to help us break down a hand that ended up being a duel between Karina and long-time AnteUpper Sharkey. (And Sharks, just warning ya, Karina wrote down your name. Savor success, because we're not sure she's going to let you again).
The $3/$6 razz hand on FullTilt begins nicely for Sharkey, who has (3-6) 4. He completes it, and gets three callers, including Karina, who has an 8 showing.
Fourth Street is very nice to Sharkey (Ace) and Karina sticks around with 8-9.
Fifth Street bricks Sharkey (10) and presumably puts Karina in the lead (3). She bets out, but Sharkey likes his draw and calls.
Sixth Street gives Sharkey a 9 and Karina a scary 5. She keeps firing, but Sharkey isn't going anywhere.
Seventh Street is perfect for Sharkey (2), and turns out to be a brick for Karina, who calls and loses with a 9-8.
NEXT WEEK'S SHOW
Remember - it's a long layoff. We'll be back on Dec. 7 (salute your local WWII vet, please) with the always popular Fasso for a show on Stud 8.
- SCOTT

Christopher Cosenza is co-host of the longest running poker podcast on the planet, Ante Up! He started playing poker seriously in 2003 and his favorite players are Phil Ivey and Kenna James, though he tends to act like Phil Hellmuth if you make a bad play against him.
Scott Long, Ante Up!'s other co-host, is the author of the monthly Bet on It column in tbt*. He began gambling way too young (don't tell the fuzz!) and in the seventh grade, named his state "Gambleland" for a school project (State Animal? Loan shark, of course).

Thanks for using my hand guys. Good show, liked the Husband Wife thing. Next time we come down the wife and I would love to be on. You both should bring yours. Keep up the good work. Bring Fasso, you know how I miss his "silky smooth voice" HA!

Entertaining interview and creative idea with the gameshow, but the execution was sooo backwards...lol.

Great interview guys.
Relly interesting hand of the week too. Sharkey, did you consider raising on 5th? As the hand played out I thought I would probably raise on 5th because we are the favorite at that point with 2 cards to go (although I'm at work so I can't check the actual numbers to see how big of a favorite).
However, it seems you won more in this particular hand with the smooth call since Karina was on a bluff. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the reasons you didn't raise on 5th.

Yeah, we didn't think we were going to pull the trigger on that gameshow but they were gung-ho for it, so our execution was a little off. I'll be sure to work on the format for when we have Mr. and Mrs. Gambit on the show.

That. Was. Awesome.

I considered it for a second. There were a couple of reasons.
1.) She sat at the table after me and she was winning every hand, nothing was even going to a showdown.
2.) I hit a 10-6-4 low on 5th and for some odd reason I thought I was behind given how well she was playing. Thought her 9-8 was good.
3.) I lost a nice chunk of change at that table before she sat down, so I guess I was playing a little too cautious. Especially since a few of my outs were gone already.
4.) When she hit the 5 on 6th I thought I was screwed. But I was commited at that point and I figured what the hell, it is only $3/$6 right?

Good points Sharkey. Just watch out now, because it's not every day a Shark gets attacked.

Really good show guys. You really pulled some great stuff out of the Jetts. They were very entertaining. Found myself laughing out loud through most of the interview. One of your best shows.

Best...Episode...Ever!
No, really, that was great, I loved the Jetts, they're hilarious. I almost choked on my coffee when Karina was talking about garage sales. Love the Sam Grizzle reference, too. Why am I hearing his name everywhere lately?

Good thing for me. And when it does happen it is pretty embarrasing getting attacked by Dolphins. Them noses hurt!!

OK,
Good episode. not the best ever though as there was no reference to flashing green lights or Kings and Lows.
I broke down and spent the $12 on the deck of cards. It'll be fun to pull out for our home game. I hope they are quality cards and not cheap paper cards.
I just hope I see alot of Johnny Chan!

That was indeed a lot of fun. Great job, fellas.

Am I the only one that thinks Chip is the luckiest man in the world? I mean, he's happily married, has two healthy children, his wife plays poker, his wife supports his poker playing, and..................she hangs out at the strip club with him?

Michael, that last part was going through my mind, too. Pretty cool!
Great show, guys. It ranks right up there with the Negreanu show and the episode with Navarro.

Awesome show guys! The best guests since Joe Navarro. Love the show guys, keep it up.
