What card are you?
Tomorrow we will have Chip and Karina Jett in the studio, and one of their projects is called Poker's Most Wanted. It's a deck of cards using famous poker players, and we'll be sure to ask them some questions about this venture. But it got me to thinking: What card are you? Have you ever given that some thought? When I was a kid I used to love the King of Clubs because for some reason it reminded me of root beer, which to this day is my favorite soda (pop). Don't ask me why, and even if Dr. Freud were alive he'd never solve that riddle. But it just stuck with me and so I liked the King of Clubs. Also, my nephew, as he grew up, associated cards with his family members, and to him I'm the King of Diamonds. My wife in turn would be the Queen of Diamonds, etc. So, what card are you, and why? We'll have a little fun with Chip and Karina on this subject tomorrow. And don't forget to keep those questions coming. We have a bunch already from you, but if you get them in we'll try to ask them.

Christopher Cosenza is co-host of the longest running poker podcast on the planet, Ante Up! He started playing poker seriously in 2003 and his favorite players are Phil Ivey and Kenna James, though he tends to act like Phil Hellmuth if you make a bad play against him.
Scott Long, Ante Up!'s other co-host, is the author of the monthly Bet on It column in tbt*. He began gambling way too young (don't tell the fuzz!) and in the seventh grade, named his state "Gambleland" for a school project (State Animal? Loan shark, of course).

This will probably be a common one, but my card would have to be the Ace of spades. Maybe because it really is the face of a deck of cards. Maybe it's because it really stands out from the entire deck. But then again so does a joker. I, however, always get super excited to see it in any game we're playing.

I have many nicknames at work, one of which is "The Jack Of Clubs". They call me this because I am from Alaska and for some reason my stupid co-workers think that we beat "club" baby seals. I told them that's Canada not Alaska, but they don't care.

Wow!
Hey Nick, don't you know that the Ace of Spades is the prettiest card in the deck? Are you saying you're pretty? LOL! Thanks to Norman Chad for that one.
And of course Erwin will be posting somewhere along the line something about Ace of Spades and Motorhead.

You can put my face on the 8 of clubs. For some reason, the 8 of clubs has been my friend, including my all time favorite hand. I was holding a 7,9 and the flop came down 4,5,6. My opponents were holding A-8 and 7-K. The most beautiful 8 of clubs hit on the turn and it was cap cap cap the rest of the way.
I can't wait to hear this week's interviews, Bro. Let's cut the profanity out on this one. All of the beeping gave me a headache.

Chris, I vote for you as the 2 of clubs.

Pretty? I guess there's a reason why all my sisters friends said I looked a lot like them. My wife on the other hand says I'm only pretty when I shave and do something with my hair.
As far as myself? Well, hell yea I'm pretty. My eyes are like gumdrops and lollipops. My smile like posies and daisies. My hair like sunshine and rainbows..... Oh wait... er um. I'm a man dam it and men aren't pretty, we're rugged!

Erik, worst one in the deck, eh?
hahahahha
As for me I am the 10 of spades.

I hope no one here claims to be 3J.
I'd say the way I play NLHE in a state of constant denial, I would have to be the Suicide King.

I am the joker, they take me out early and stuff me back in the box, but when I do get out, stuff gets crazy...

The Kc is supposedly Alexander the Great. Kd is Julius Caesar.
This may explain some things...

"And of course Erwin will be posting somewhere along the line something about Ace of Spades and Motorhead"
That's just great, now I guess I'll have to.
Well, a fun fact and an observation then:
- Lemmy prefers playing slots but didn't think bananas and cherries would work for his target audience.
- Ace, apparently favored by many here, is the only card that will go both ways
What card do I choose? I'm thinking 5 of clubs because 5 is a number of mathematical beauty. Clubs is because I like clubs, followed by spades.
Jack is ok to, because it symbolizes what I know about poker.

I'd go with the 3d.
Not sure why, although 33 has been a good hand for me.

Erwin took my card, the 5c. Uncanny.
Here's why:
"It is commonly believed that the 4 suits in a deck of playing cards ... the suits represent the four classes: Spades represent nobility, hearts stand for the clergy, diamonds represent merchants, and clubs are peasants."
Spades = nobility; nope.
Hearts = clergy; no.
Diamonds = merchants; not really.
Clubs = peasants; that sounds about right.
As for the rank, well the five is a specialist, used to make straights and worthless for almost everything else.
Besides we know the reason Chris really posted this topic was so that he could play with PhotoShop. ;)

Jack of clubs. Surely not the King of anything for me. Especially where cards are concerned. Regular guy, regular class. I'm kind of, "Jack of all trades, master of few, well OK, none."

"Clubs = peasants; that sounds about right."
That's a bit of where my jack came in. In Dutch the jack is called a peasant. Hmm, jack of clubs, that's saying the same thing twice.

Sure did, but at least my boat isn't named "Honeybuns"

Final litmus test: do you watch soap operas?

5 of Diamonds.
5 because it is the best # out there. and diamonds just because. Don't know. Just usually do well with it.

Who dealt them to her? Probably a lot of different people.

This just goes to show no good can come from calling yourself a pokerslut.

I suppose I'd be the joker for various reasons, but mainly because I don't matter much in a real poker game.
