More NBC Heads Up invitees
The list of invitees to the NBC National Heads Up Championship has reached 60 people. Some of the new invitees include Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), our good friends Tom Schneider, Bill Edler and Jean-Robert (Don't call me Bobby) Bellande. One of the shocking names on the list (and there are quite a few, Mr. George Costanza) is Orel Hershiser. Remember the former Dodger pitching ace? They called him the Bulldog in his playing days. Wonder what they'll call him in poker .. Bull shark? Can't understand this pick. I think NBC would get more viewers if they picked Scott Long or me to be honest. Do you think I'll ever be able to parlay this blog into a shot on any NBC poker show? Of course not! Anyway, here's a link to the latest release for this event.

Christopher Cosenza is co-host of the longest running poker podcast on the planet, Ante Up! He started playing poker seriously in 2003 and his favorite players are Phil Ivey and Kenna James, though he tends to act like Phil Hellmuth if you make a bad play against him.
Scott Long, Ante Up!'s other co-host, is the author of the monthly Bet on It column in tbt*. He began gambling way too young (don't tell the fuzz!) and in the seventh grade, named his state "Gambleland" for a school project (State Animal? Loan shark, of course).

Orel Hershiser??? Who do they hope to attact by adding him? Is the aging Dodger fan demographic that big into poker?
If you are going to pick a baseball player that the poker community can think of...why not cross-dressing, er, poker player Jose Conseco?
Scott and Chris...you are probably more famous in the poker world than Orel. Your day must be coming.

They mention on pokerroad that he is a regular 5/10 NL player. I have heard stories of him in the game. At least he plays a lot. More so than most other celebs in the field.

interesting list...After last weeks PAD (Poker After dark), I look forward to any table with Sam Grizzle. Who wouldn't want to hear more of those stories? Although the format doesn't allow for much interaction between the players to be shown.
Which is too bad...You know there will be a debate regarding the merits of Christmas VS Festivus between George Costanza and Jerry Yang
First I've ever heard of Orel even knowing if a flush beats a straight, but I have heard that there are some good poker players among pro athletes, all that downtime.
The thing that I find troublesome...I know it's an NBC show, but I don't think a late night talk show host from the 70's has much of a chance, even if he were alive

Yeah, if I were a multimillionaire with months and months off I'd play with the big boys too.

These people among others are the reason that i have no interest in the head up championship. Why don't we just call it the NBC Celebs vs Pros? Shannon Elizabeth was bad enough, but at least she had a clue.

She had part of a clue. She played a hand horribly vs Wasicka last year, he would have been out if she played it correctly.
