Race for the Hundy Contest

Deckerrun Mary Decker vs. Zola Budd.

Seabiscuit vs. War Admiral.

Road Runner vs. Wile E. Coyote.

The greatest races of all time will add a new chapter this Saturday, as Christopher Cosenza faces off against Mike Fasso in 1,600 meters of huffing and puffing.

Here's the Ante Up! Nation's chance to win some swag on the sweaty backs of these foolish competitors. Put your guesses to these questions in Comments field before the gun goes off at 11 a.m. Eastern on Saturday.

The winner gets an aluminum Bicycle-brand coffee thermos from my WSOP Swag Stash. (You'll have to provide your own Chariots of Fire soundtrack).

Scoring will be Badugi-style. We'll start with everyone who gets Nos. 1-3 right. If no one gets all three correct, we'll go with those who get two of the three correct. And if no one gets two right, we'll go with everyone who gets No. 1 right. The winner will be the Ante Up! National who guesses No. 4 (over and under) closest to the actual time. Final tiebreaker will be the first commenter.

Answer these four in the Comments field:

1. Who will win? (Fasso or Cosenza)

2. Who will have the fastest lap time? (Fasso or Cosenza)

3. How many of the competitors will have to walk any portion of the one mile? (0, 1 or 2)

4. What will the winning time be?

Question: say 1 runner is totally crushing the other. Winning runner could then walk to the finish line - so would winning runner be considered as having "to walk any portion of the mile"?

If Chris concentrates on his FEET he may not trip, but I am concerned that he will trip and fall so I have to pick Fasso FTW, and then Conscenza turns the fastest lap but too little too late.

1. Fasso

I'm also predicting there will be at least one spewing at the end of the race.

1. Cosenza ldo
2. Cosenza
3. 2
4. 9:59

Someone is going to run too fast and gas out. This will result in 2 walkers.

Winner could have gone faster but will slow down when the win is in the bag.

Wow I dropped the ball on getting my predictions in early.

For the couple of people saying '1. Fasso', great odds are still available -

By the way, for clarification. Is it closest to the best time or "Price is Right style" Closest without going over?

I don't want to see any swag controversy next week.

Brian

Geez, Brian, and you're a lawyer? Aren't you the ones who write this ridiculous fine print? :) Original post says "over or under," so, it's over OR under - no Bob Barker shenanigans.

On a side note, I've never been so sad to go to Florida than I am this weekend... as my plane lands at 12:30 in Sarasota... I'll never make it to watch the race... please tell me there's going to be a special one-time video podcast :-)

1) Chris (but I bet on Fasso 2:1 pot odds)
2) Chris
3) 0(Pride will keep them to a very slow jog!)
4) 8:31

Winner: Chris
Fastest Lap: Fasso (Chris has sizeable three lap lead. Fasso sprints last 1/4 mile to no avail)
# Contestants Walking: 0. These egos will collapse first.

It's these things that make Ante Up! the best poker podcast ever and unique among all podcasts (and believe me, I listen the 30 on a regular basis and have come across 50 others): a community around it like nowhere else, fun stuff like this, listerner tournaments that develop into series, spin-off poker series..... Chris, Scott, I love you guys. If I ever come to meet you, I'll buy you drinks (paid by the money I win from you in your home game ;) ).

Totally agree w/Erwin. More prop bets please.

About This Blog

Christopher Cosenza is co-host of the longest running poker podcast on the planet, Ante Up! He started playing poker seriously in 2003 and his favorite players are Phil Ivey and Kenna James, though he tends to act like Phil Hellmuth if you make a bad play against him.

Scott Long, Ante Up!'s other co-host, is the author of the monthly Bet on It column in tbt*. He began gambling way too young (don't tell the fuzz!) and in the seventh grade, named his state "Gambleland" for a school project (State Animal? Loan shark, of course).
