Sirius or XM?

Is Eric the Midget Still Alive?

I was at a stoplight this morning, and the topless Jeep next to me was cranking Howard Stern. (Artie Lange was berating the new Springsteen project, calling it "a jug band.")

Couple that nice moment with a message from a bitter blogger who was incensed at my lack of satellite radio, and it got me thinking:

Sirius or XM?

I really would like Howard in my life again, but I also crave: New England Patriots broadcasts, Syracuse football and basketball (does either entity carry the NCAA?), a Bob Dylan channel, some Sunset Strip metal, underground hip-hop and soft hits from the '70s.

What's the best fit?

Sirius fans? XM fans?

Let's settle this with fists.

I personally will be getting XM to tune in to the new Dylan radio show he hosts beginning May 3rd. Other than that i could care less about music on the radio. I have enough cd's that I cannot possibly listen to all of them by the time i die. I'm sure I will find something more to like about satellite radio once i get it...

Sirius all the way..! I've had Sirius since the 1st of 2005 and I would not trade it for the world, I've had it since Howard Started, I was not a huge fan of his before but it can be entertaining if youre in the mood. The overwhelming positives on Sirus is the MUSIC! they have great programming to fit whatever mood your in, the 80's channel is hosted by all the MTV VJ's from the 80's and its a funny blast from the past. But what ever mood youre in there's a channel for it, all professional sports are on it, except MLB,but all NFL, NHL, NBA as well as most NCAA football games are on, the entire NCAA basketball tourney is on also.Even the Arena football games are on it.The other adavantage is portability..! the signal is coast to coast, I traveled from Florida to North Carolina and it was a life saver when its the middle of the night and youre on the road and in the middle of no where, thats a huge plus.Sirius is for me..!

Wow. That's a great plug for Sirius. Are you a shareholder, by any chance?I like the sound of that NCAA action. After all, I wanna hear every moment of Syracuse football's national championship run next year.

Being that I am a Bubba mark from his days on 98 Rock...I'd have to go with Sirius. Then there's their deal with the NFL. I just haven't forced myself to part with the 12.95 a month yet. That's like 37 cases of Keystone Light!

You know... the secret to Keystone Light is those specially designed liners in the cans...

In college, I used to drink Pils Light. You could get a six-pack of that stuff for $1.99. Sure, my kidneys would lock up the next day, but hoo boy, a Pils night was always a wild night.

bah, Schaefer City, baby ... $6 a case, can't go wrong! ... Remember Schaefer's slogan ..."Schaefer is the, one beer to have, when you're havin' more than one!" ... That's right kids, if you're gonna get sloshed, get Scheaf-faced.The later changed it to "ha, ha, sittin' pretty, all together in Schaefer city" ..

I have XM radio and I love it just for the movie soundtrack station, which is awesome. The 90's station is great too, and the international pop channel. But as far as 70's wuss music, I don't know Sean, you're on your own to find that out. :)

It's pronounced "POO-Holes," folks (as in Albert).Just ask ESPN: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6619Suddenly this strikes me as hillarious! Speaking of Poo-Holes, my wife rented Brokeback Mountain the other night. I protested, she told me to grow up. BTW, that first man love scene is beyond disturbing. POW! Right off the bat, violent, sweaty, rump-banging. There really should have been some sort of a warning. I immediately turned my gaze from the TV, but it was too late. The damage was done. Man on man, etched in my brain. Lord, make it go away...BTW, Diamond Dave all the way!Smell ya' later.

I've already voted, but I've seemed to stir up some trashy beer talk. Which is fine by me, because my Scotch-Irish heritage pretty much insures that I can drink anything. Well, I think I've conjured up a new drink for you to try. I'm a big Guinness fanatic. The other night, I was partaking in some of Ireland's finest, while my buddies were playing beer pong with Natural Light. One of my friends had a cup of Natty and asked me to pour some Guinness in for him. No Bass. No Harp. This was no Half and Half...No Black and Tan...This was a Black and Trash. BTW...could we start that blog up. Drunken concert stories!

Ouch, drunken concert stories ... we know how mine ended .. A tip: when they issue the jail-house flip flops, ALWAYS make sure you get a right AND a left foot .. Otherwise, you have to try to make trades .. yeah.

We could do a whole podcast on drunken concert stories. I've been waiting for an excuse to let loose on the story behind Sting in Gainesville back in 1985. Ohhh my. The sin and excess will astound you.

XM, hands down. I just pay attention to the music, not the news and sports and talk, of which there is plenty. Poor Sirius fans don't know what they're missing. (Yes, I've listened to Sirius.)

I had XM for 18 months and on a friends suggestion I tried Sirius on-line for the free 3 day trial and make the switch after that. This goes back before the Stern news. The music selection is much better and if you are an NFL fan it is a must!

Poor, poor XM satellite and their minions...When your CEO quits mid-stream of Stern's rising - not a good biz sign. Sure, XM is, as of now, the higher costing stock with the larger audience, but history IS changing as I write.Sirius has far fewer commercials overall (this includes Howard Stern and their nationally syndicated and sports programming) and absolutely NO Commercials on their music channels. I love the 4 hard rock/heavy metal channles blaring all all of the stuff I banged my head to in high school (when i had a mane of hair) +ALL the Rolling Stones, ALL Elvis, and ALL Springsteen Cahnnels (although they moved the Boss' channel - where is it now?)...Yes, my wife and I are SIRI stockholders and don't regret it one bit...BTW: They are the only provider with your Bucs games should you be out of town.

Well, I don't care about sports or talk radio much. My only concern is how the music they're playing. So far I've enjoyed XM better than Sirius.

Sorry I have been gone for so long. Gotta take a blog break sometimes you know? So Sirius or XM?Well my husband is a Serious Sirius listener. He is a big Howard Stern and Bubba Fan (always on the chip McGilicutty if you know what I mean) yes I probably butchered that spelling. He also is a huge basketball fan and he loves his football, sports radio, talk radio, and music too....He says sirius is the best. One note about XM - they claim to have the Ellen and Oprah shows etc, but they aren't live shows, they are just reruns of their TV show. LAME!My husband takes our daughter for rides in his car just so he can listen to Sirius radio. He's an addict. I want my husband back! On second thought maybe I should get him an XM to replace? jk.

If you want 70s music, you can't beat XM. They don't just play the hits, they play EVERYTHING -- all the one-hit (or non-hit) wonders. You can hear stuff you'd forgotten even existed.

Personally, I would listen to the theme from Gilligan's Island all day if I could do it on Sirius. steve spears said...We could do a whole podcast on drunken concert stories. Personally, I'd love to hear the Fellini-esque tales of sin and debauchery. The lost weekends. The morning-after sickness. In fact, screw the commentary, I want video. Video beats audio, just like rock beats paper. They say the revolution will not be televised. Well, it looks like the apocalypse sure will be. Whoo, imagine the cost of air time during the apocalypse? Don't save it for later, I want my apocalypse now!
