In Sean's Mailbox: Seeking Vegas Tips

Parislasvegas144Hey gamblers, the FF and I are heading to Vegas this weekend. She's going out for work; I'm going out to lose Lulu's beauty-school money. We're staying at Paris (see left). I've been to Vegas a few times -- including the time when my kidney locked up after bad mai-tais at NYNY and I had to go to a sketchy med center -- but all my memories are appropriately fogged by sin. SO...WHO HAS VEGAS TRAVEL TIPS? You know, besides hitching it up at a drive-thru chapel. The FF doesn't want to sully our love by a cheap-o wedding. That's good, cause I'm not sure the divorce went through on my last marriage.

Anyway, if you have any cool hip places to hit, let me know.

In the meantime, here are the CDs I found in my magic mailbox this morning (fair warning: great chunks of the Bon Jovi sound like a Kenny Chesney album)...

Bon Jovi -- Lost Highway
Acute -- Arms Around a Stranger
Mandisa -- Only the World
The Polyphonic Spree -- The Fragile Army
Shop Boyz -- Rockstar Mentality
Boys Like Girls -- Boys Like Girls
Billy Bob Thornton -- Beautiful Door
Bryan Ferry -- Dylanesque

Vegas is a lot of fun. I assume you already know which shows you want to see so I'll suggest two things off the beaten Vegas path. Fly-away, which allows you to feel all the sensations of'skydiving' while only being a few feet off the ground. And if you ever wanted to fire an M-16 or a semi-auto shotgun, check out the Las Vegas Gun Range.

If Prince is playing at 3121, you should probably try to catch the show.

We snagged tickets to see "LOVE," but I'd drop everything to catch that Prince show. Great idea.

I'm planning a trip to Vegas in October and just recently found the site / podcast:

Five Hundy By Midnight
http://www.fivehundybymidnight.com/fhbm/

While the podcast is no where near the quality of SIT80s, it does provide some good tips regarding Las Vegas.

Good Luck!

You're road-tripping to LA if you want to see Prince; he has a week of gigs lined up in Hollywood.

Enjoy In-n-Out and avoid Happy Hour at the Cabo Cantina ...

Billy Bob Thornton sings?!?!?!?!?!

There are four or five In-N-Outs in Vegas, so I'll be hitting those for sure. Maybe I should check for a Pollo Loco, too...

In the Paris hotel, there's a great little kiosk that sells crepes stuffed with various tasty treats. They're perfect for use as "buzz-killers" about 1 a.m. or so. I'll be eating my weight in those next month when I'm there.

Don't see Cirque De Soleil's "Zumanity" unless you're hopped up on X.

Rio has the largest super-buffet in town -- you need a Disney tram to get from one side to the other. But the Orleans has a similar buffet for half the price.

Sunday night dinner at the Bellagio buffet is pricey but worth it.

Avoid the "Girls of Glitter Gulch" at at all costs. Just trust me on that one.

And lastly, from your pals at Stuck in the 80s:

Top 5 Vegas-related movies from the 80s:
5. Over the Top
4. Starman
3. Rainman
2. Oh God You Devil
1. Lost in America
